One more exhuast question about the h pipe

I put my h pipe on today and I had trouble getting the h-pipe hanger to go into the hanger on the crossmember. I couldn't get it lined up.  My car is an 88 XR-7 by the way.  So I just let the two hangers rest on top of the crossmember.  I thought I read that that was what you could do but after reading the coolcats thing again it sounds like it should go into the hanger because it says you can get the double hanger if you want.  If anyone can verify that it should go into the crossmember hanger please let me know.  Maybe I should have tried harder.

Some grease on the rods that go into the rubber hangers work wonders.  Even if you don't have a double hanger, at least one should line up.

I've got the single hanger version, passenger side.
I find it much easier if I bend the rod so it's pointing upward at the tip (an inch or so), and spray WD40 or something in the hole before installing.
