Steering wheel question Reply #1 – December 17, 2006, 01:59:22 AM yesit may or may not look right to you but it will swap.. a friend and i installed one on an 89 LSC the stock one looked like shiznit. in my eyes it looked out of place since the mustang has round steering column cover and the LSC had a squared off cover.. but on the other hand the cougar cover is round allso.. so it should look fine since you own a Tbird ie the Ford logo Nick Quote Selected
Steering wheel question Reply #2 – December 17, 2006, 02:47:50 AM when i saw the topic, i thought you were gonna ask"why does my steering wheel column look offset coming out of the dash. IE- its closer to the dash on the Right vs the Left. Quote Selected
Steering wheel question Reply #3 – December 17, 2006, 08:26:01 AM No offset questions here.I have my '88 Sport project car,and certain parts of the car are in oustanding condition, other parts are destroyed. The steering wheel looks like ,the center horn pad is busted up,and it looks like someone had cut on the steering wheel for some reason or another.I have a Mustang steering wheel (I don't know why,nor do I remember ever getting it),hanging above the workbench, soooooo,I thought I'd swap them.I'll put it on today. Thanks a lot for the info.PS.jcassity,what do you do for a living? You get into some pretty technical things?Just curious. Steering wheel question Reply #4 – December 17, 2006, 08:42:58 AM As long as it's '83+ and non airbag, there should be no issues. Quote Selected
Steering wheel question Reply #5 – December 17, 2006, 09:10:15 AM Cool.No air bags in it.Just the round horn button with the FORD logo in the center and cruise buttons.Really not that different than the T-Bird wheel already residing on the end of the column. If that car were a child,DHS would've ripped it from it's parents long ago.It was abused. The carpet behind the seats is so hard you can knock on it like wood. There is no headliner, the glovebox door was held up using duct tape, the driver side window has come apart from the track (we've all experienced that),the door panel on the driver's door has 3 screws holding it,period.I have new clips and will fix that as well.Just a lot of stuff like that. The lense on my gauge cluster is busted, but luckily the gauges are fine.I've been gathering parts one at atime and I'll eventually get it all put together. The distributor is butted up against the thermostat housing.Either the distributor is off a tooth,or,my guess,is that when the wires were put on,they are all over by one position.I need plugs and a fuel filter also.As I said, one piece at a time.I keep telling myself, every single thing I do to it,like changing a switch, whatever,is one step closer to getting it done.Patience. I want to do field service with travel so i dont have to move. General Dynamics wanted me to move up to Mass for robotics work but wanted 90% travel. Steering wheel question Reply #9 – December 18, 2006, 04:47:33 PM Yo Cassity, good luck.I've been with the Veteran's Center here for 13 years (I'm just starting my 14th).Good hours, great benefits, and, since I'm a veteran, and a VFW,that goes towards retirement.I love it.i'm 39 now,and don't plan on moving anywhere.Luckily I'm still good looking and have the same wife for nearly 13 years. What else could a guy want.............except a frickin' fender since i wrecked the 'Bird?LOL.
