MN12 with Vent Windows? Sure!

That's a pretty lame Thunderbird for who owned it, but I've never seen vent windows on an MN12. That's pretty cool!

Wow, certainly a unique car. Check out the low-back bucket seats, too. I imagine if I was a member of the Ford family, I'd at least have had a Supercharged V6 or a V8, but maybe the guy was cheap.

I'd like to have that car. The 3.8 would have to be tossed in favour of a 5.0, and the suspension upgraded to SC spec (and all original parts retained in storage to be reinstalled later when the car is worth something, of course), but that car is neat, and very, very rare - quite possibly the only MN12 with vent windows in existence. I would guess those doors are a preproduction engineering exercise that didn't actually make production but WCF (or whoever ordered the car on his behalf) pulled some strings to get 'em.

The sad thing is that Camaro rust hulk in the other post sold for 16k and is one of 100. The Camaro looks to me to be unrestorable - only the firewall, windshield frame and door are intact! And somebody bid it over $16k!!!

This T-Bird, however, is in good overall condition, could be made near perfect for under $3k, and will likely not even get a bid at its $1k starting price, much less meet the reserve. If that car were legal in Canada (the seat belts make it illegal here) and the reserve were reasonable I'd be on it myself...

Those seatbelts are illegal here?? I thought it was only illegal to import a car without them to the US as they are supposed to be better?

Anyway, wouldnt be difficult to install regular b-pillar mount belts in it, betcha it has the mounds welded in under there.

According to Transport Canada the electric mice in 89-93 T-Birds do not meet Canadian requirements for seat belt anchorage locations. Also according to Transport Canada it's illegal to modify OE seatbelts. They specifically mention the 89-93 T-Bird and Cougar (and the little Miata wannabe Capri) in the list of vehicles not allowed in and say that it's impossible to make them legal because it's illegal to modify the factory belts.

Now that I think of it, though, anything older than 15 years is exempt and is admissible anyway, so the 89-91 models may be legal here now. Transport Canada's website is down so I can't check (it was years ago that I had checked).

Yeah...nice to see I'm not the only one rockin' a white steering wheel.

It's a...um...unique car, that's for sure. Good conversation starter. Although I don't think I'd want it in my garage for some reason. Maybe it's the "I Like Guys" Blue paint scheme. I don't know.
