300 I-6 ??

whould a swap of a 300 I-6 be worth it and is it possable?

it has the same bell and engine mounts.
i think its to long and tall

Actualy dont' bother with the search.  The search engine doesn't work since the server change.

Just wanting to sate a fact real quick. I did a 300 I6 to a 351W in my 81 f150. The mount towers are located in a different spot. The 351W sit a good 3 inches forward (maybe more). Also the 300 I6 seemed to be heavier. My front end sat up about 1-2 inches higher. Could have been an optical alusion to me. Didn't have any way to weight both long blocks. I don't know if any posted that. I lost intreast reading after the first page of the posted link.

a 300-6 is real heavy!! I heard on my bronco message board I frequent that it may be heavier than a 302. Do not quote me, but it is close if not heavier. Maybe search up some weight numbers...

I just re-read some of the posts in that thread...where Bird351 was talking about an EFI300 to run at 75+mph at less than 2000rpm and gear splitters and maintaing good acceleration all with an aod....then I got to thinking....an EFI300 with a Viper spec T56 and like 3.27 or 3.55 gears...could get silly and go twin turbo...what with the dual exhaust manifolds on the fuelie 300 :evilgrin:

I always said that if I had money, I'd be a dangerous man.....CHUUUUUUUUUUCK...you need to get on this...build it now EFI300TT <<

Hmmmm!, I guess is a bit too tall to put in a fox body, before I rebuild My 232ci on My 85 bird, this idea was growing in My head, I have one 300ci in My garage at this time, I love a lot the 300ci (I have in My van), but after some measurements, I guessed it will not fit, too tall, and leave this idea, rebuilted My 232ci...

The Viper-spec T56 would be great for the .5:1 6th gear. I think you could even go a little bit numerically higher with that rear gear and still get a very low highway RPM. .5:1 6th gear plus a 4.10 rear gear plus 26.6" diameter tires (225/60R16s, I'm using my Mark's tires as reference) yields 1942 RPM @ 75 mph, according to FordMuscle's RPM calculator. Dropping to 3.73s makes it 1767 RPM. Of course, all this is just number-crunching, and I don't know how well it would do in real-world use.

When I figured all that out, I figured on an automatic plus the splitter because it seemed more appropriate for a highway cruiser.. that and my fiance doesn't know how to drive a stick, and isn't exactly enthused to learn. On a 2-person road trip, it definitely helps if both people can take turns driving. (as was the case a couple months back for me)

As far as Chuck goes.. I think he's intent on using the small-block I6 (200/250) with the Aussie X-flow EFI head. I think he said he didn't want all that extra weight sticking out in front of the front tires like would be the case with the 240/300. My goals for planning all that out weren't the same as his, so the extra weight out in front didn't matter as much to me.

A couple weeks ago I sold the car I was hoping to do that 300 swap to, so I don't know when I'd be able to do one. I don't plan on getting any other cars until I get rid of both '88s as well. Ideally, I would probably want my 351 converted to EFI and put into my Mark along with an AOD with the 4R70W gearset for my highway cruiser.. and to pick up a 4-door Fairmont or Zephyr and put a 2.3T into it (or for the really insane dream, an Esslinger all-aluminum 2.5T) for the around-town stuff, assuming I could tack on a T56 to that. There is the possibility of keeping the '88 T-bird and doing an I6 swap to that, but I'd never hear the end of it from some of you for taking a V8 (even that wheezy old 170k mi. SO) out in favor of an I6. :P Hey, at least that swap would free up a V8 K-member for one of ya. :P

yeah if i recall correctly you would need the K-member from an early 80's inline 6 mustang...... it's kmember ONLY works with the inline 6... it does not work for 302 or 3.8 or 2.3... im almost 100 percent sure on this aspect.. other than that it will fit under the hood... may have to cut the radiator support and move the radiator forwards.
