step oin the brake to start the car ?! i've never heard of that one, i've heard of having to have your seatbelt on while in the drivers seat to have your car running (VW's)

and having to have your clutch pedal down......but not your brake pedal,

other wise, no, i don't know how...

the MN12 cars had this, im just not sure when it started, since my dads is an 89 and you dont need to press the pedal, and my friends was a 91, and im not sure if he needed it

the problem is, the switch that tells the lights to come on, is the same switch that lets you start the car, if would be rather in depth to disable this i would think, because youd need to supply power to the circuit that disables start up at all times
It's Gumby's fault.

I wouldn't disable safety features... their in place for a reason. Would hate to see a kid start-up, throw in drive...

I'm not familiar with MN-12 cars, but it seems like the brake-to-shift would be sufficient safety.  Although disabling one might do the other as well.

its not the brake/shift.
This car here you put the key in, you turn it. nothing happens till you step on the brake padel then the car starts. I just want to get in and start the car without stepping on the brake. plus thinking of add a remote start kit to in for winter..

If you have to step on the brake before starting, that's not a factory feature. According to the wiring diagrams the only interrupts in the circuit are the neutural safety switch and the starter kill relay for the anti-theft system. If yours requires stepping on the brake for the starter to work I'd pull teh dash panel and look for an aftermarket starter kill relay. The diagram for the 89 T-Bird/Cougar 3.8 is attached as a PDF file:

it can't be all that hard, go to ford, and ask for a wiring schmatic it''ll label all of the wires, you may end up cutting the wire...but that may also cause a drain on the battery, with the solonode allways being activated to engage the starter relay,

why don't you re doo a starter relay ?! it's not that hard, power in power out switched circuit and boom...done wire it to the starter wire on the ignition !!

OK, the '90 is different. If you look at the diagram below there is a "starter interrupt relay". This relay gets its ground through the ignition switch (the pink/white wire is grounded only when the switch is in "START". It gets its power through the brake light switch (green wire). It seems to be a redundant safety device because the park-neutral switch ensures the car must be in park or neutral before it will start...

Now, you didn't hear it from me, but it would seem that if you were to find that relay and cut the green wire, then connect it to a constant 12V power source, you'd bypass the problem. If that relay has a constant 12-volt feed it would only energize when the ignition switch provides it with a ground (in the start position), so it would not stay on all the time. You must cut the wire instead of simply splicing into it, though, or else your brake lights will remain on all the time.

Another possibility would be to find which terminals on the relay that the red/light blue wires go to, pull the relay out, and put a jumper between those two terminals.

But, in the interest of safety, of course, you sould never do anything like this because blah blah blah lawyers blah blah lawsuits blah blah blah...
