What is this part? November 26, 2006, 06:10:42 PM After putting the rear end back in my T-Bird this weekend, we realized we had left out the rubber cylinder that came out of the old springs. Not the spring isolator pads, but a rubber tube essentially about five inches or so long. What is this thing? I can't find a single reference to it in my books, and I can't find anyone selling something like it. Is it important? Do I have to take the thing back apart and put it in?I can post pictures if my description wasn't clear.Thanks!-Bill Quote Selected
What is this part? Reply #1 – November 26, 2006, 06:12:14 PM You dont need it, I believe its only used to keep from getting stuck in the coils.Scott Quote Selected
What is this part? Reply #2 – November 26, 2006, 06:55:35 PM It's there for NVH. It's to help keep the coils "quiet". Not essential for performance. Quote Selected

With the rear jacked up, the extended springs should give you enough wiggle room to get it back in (if you want).. Quote Selected

What is this part? Reply #6 – November 28, 2006, 06:08:13 AM Hi!,It's just there to retain the coil to prevent go out of under the car Seriously, when I changed My coils last winter, I putted in there again, only because it was there original, but I guessed is to prevent a "ball" of mud in the coil or sometning like that...It's probably not very very important, cauz I never see that on any other of My coiled Ford before...
