AOD to T5 swap ?

Tried searching a lil couldnt find what I was looking for. 87 5.0 sport car looking to swap to 5 speed

Will a peddle assembly out of a fox stang work or do I need to find a thunderbird set?

Is the driveshaft same lenght?

I assume ill need to use the electronic speedo setup outta the aod?

Any other things I should know?

All the help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

You will need.....

-Fox Stang pedal assembly
-Fox Stang bell housing
-Fox T-5
-Flywheel
-flywheel bolts
-clutch quadrant (I have a double hood aluminum piece)
-adjustable clutch cable (or stock if you use the self adjusting factory plastic quadrant)
-Shifter assembly
-lower shift boot
-Longer bolts for the top of the bell housing (the AOD bolts will work for the other 4)
-Block plate (between the bell housing and block)
-two small bolts for the bottom of the block plate to the bell housing)
-Tranny mount (the AOD mount will swap over)
-I would say speedo gear, but, I cut the end off mine just enough that it fit great.
-3 quarts of Automatic transmission fluid (I use Royal Purple)
-5 speed Thunderbird/ Cougar console panel
-pilot bearing
-clutch kit (it should come with the clutch, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, installation tool).
-Clutch Fork

-I adapted my AOD harness to work for the back up lights. Easy stuff.

The driveshaft should be a direct swap
Speedo sensor will swap
Cross member and trans mount will swap.

It took about 4 1/2 hours to do the swap in my car with a couple of friends helping out. It's a direct swap of all parts from a Fox Stang.

If I can help in any way, let me know. I remember when I first did it years ago, had a million questions. Now, just another day. LOL.

Thank you luckily I bought a motor and trans together.
Its rad hose to tail shaft. Its 89 motor and I assume trans is tge same year

It has 50 oz flywheel. Block plate/ index plate. King cobra clutch. Bellhousing with clutch fork. Trans mount double hump crossmember and a hurst short throw shifter.

So they still have reg clutch cables. Idk y I thought they were hydraulic like my 95 f150 was.

Thank you for the help.

Ill probably have to re gear the car I have 3:31 in it now for the aod. Ill prob go 4:10 with it

Cut a hole. coolcats.net has a template to download in the tech section if you want an exact fit.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

If your car is a Sport, then you already have a floor shifter and the hole is there for you already.

Hmmm 88 cougar xr7 with a 5speed sounds fun as hell, sounds easy and cheap to do, seems how stangs end up in junk yards here lol, finding cougar parts is like searching for a virgin in a brothell...lol

stupid question. I over looked a small item and I wondering if it matters a lot. in the cool cats thing it said to use 87-93 clutch petals. I believe mine are out of a 85 dose that matter at all??
