Help : Next upgrade/replacememnt

For my next replacement/upgrade to the cougar I want to do the suspension, 11" front brake upgrade, and linkage (I guess that's what I should be calling it).

Well, what I do know about cars I've learned from a bunch of my friends so far, however we haven't reached the suspension chapter yet.

My setup was origionally established as a strait line combo, however I also use my car as a daily driver. If I am to replace my suspension I want to get something that will not only be able to handle well around town, but also give a satisfactory lauch off the line. I also want to be able to stiffen up the car, thinking of things like strut tower brace and Shawn mentioned a g-load brace.

All of this with a budget and I also want to upgrade to 11" front discs. Any help on these topics would be great, not looking for anything radical, just practical for my setup and every day useage.

Thanks in advance.

Mike-
The "simple" 11" upgrade for the front would be the 11" 5.0 Mustang or 87-88TC spindle/rotor.  You can keep your existing struts if you need to by using a spacer between the spindle/strut (the 10" brake spindles are wider at the strut mounting point.

Any Fox Mustang strut tower brace should fit your car.  The Tbird upper strut mounts might interfere a bit with some (can't say for certain), but all the dimensions are the same between the TBird and Mustang engine bays.  Just make sure the one you get fits your Cobra intake.  The lower stress braces can fit.  The 4-point versions might be a bit more difficult to fit, but there are also several 2-point ones as well.  I know on my 83 5.0 I had, the lower brace I had did not want to fit.

I have the 11" brakes on the new Mark VII and even though it weights more the braking is soooo much better from my base tbird which had something like 9 inch and drums in the back. Just make sure you dont put urself through the winshield or something, huge difference.
