CFI Power?

What all can I do to get some cheap/free power from the CFI? I know you can "mod" the CFI ( Jcassity has a few posts on it) to get alittle, bump the timing and headers/exhaust will get some too. But aside from tearing the engine down and starting from scratch is there anything else I can do?

Perhaps an old-school open element air cleaner?  The air might not be the coldest, but it sure would draw a lot more in.  Hell, go all out and get one with an open lid, too.

I don't think there's a whole lot you can do with CFI - it's not just the injection setup that's limiting your power, it's the heads, intake and cam as well. To make more power the engine has to move more air, and the factory '84 5.0 SO is not gonna do that without pretty much tearing the engine down and starting over (new cam, heads, induction, exhaust, etc)

I figured that. As of now all I need is a disturibtor and duraspark box to swap to carb. That would buy me some. Maqybe this winter go cam/headers/exhaust/e7's. But for now is there any idea's or just what was listed?

1.7 ratio roller rockers as a start..... You could always use them later on a different head/cam combo too.

Well now I have a 4 barrel intake , a Duraspark Dist. and a Holly to add to this.  What else do I need to swap beside the simple stuff like fuel lines and gaskets. The duraspark box and a fuel pressure regulater because I wana keep my fuel pumps. What else to just swap it over?

Just converting to carb itself is worth 15-20 hp alone depending on your  current build and its condition. By all rights,, carbs do provide a decent and cheap work around for power.  I like carbs,, but they have a love for gas that i dont share.

On your CFI,, there is a round plug on the regulator.  If yours is stock,, you will have a solid plug which you can simply drill a small hole in.  (dont be scared,, just do it).  now get a punch in the hole or something and pry out the plug and toss it.  You will find an allen screw in the opening.  Turning the allen screw clock wise one turn is equal to aprox 2 pounds increase in presure.  Keep track of your turns and keep the allen screw with you as you test the fuel presue you like.  If you have a plastic plug in the top of the CFI then it is not an OEM part and when the plastic plug is removed, there will be no adjustment.
This whole drill the plug out thing is shared with early chevy throttle bodies as well and is located where the linkage bumps the trottle body.
