Bulbs interchange (US->Euro)

Hello!
Having american car in Europe is a challenge sometimes. As ussual devil is in the details. I took my instrument cluster out today as I wanted to see how many bulbs do I need. I want to replace all of them to avoid another speedo project.
Eric and Sam told me I can use 194 bulbs in place of halogen ones which are hard to find. Everything seems to be easy as for now, but that's where the story begins! Does 194 intechange with european W5W or W3W? 5 watt bulbs will be brighter, but I don't want to melt the plastic housings, they may give too much heat!
I even found W5W halogen bulbs, but do they interchange with 194?
Thought you may know the answer...
Thanks!

If nothing else, I'm sure one of us would be happy to send you some 194's.  If you paid shipping and the bulbs, which I don't think would be to much.

I often substitute a 168 for a burned-out 194.
194 = 3.7w
168 = 4.9w (a bit brighter)
So a W3W or W5W should work okay.
Death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth.
