MSD problems

Well i got my car back from the mechanic.  For some reason, my MSD box was messing up my igniton.  At first it wouldn't fire the sparks all the way, making me run rich.  Then one day it died.  I swear the first thing I did unhook the box and crank it 3 times.  Nothing.  After pulling the distributor, rebuilding it, then throwing it back in, i had it towed.  $140 later and its running and passed emmissions (bombed it big time).  Now im wondering if it is the box or the wiring job my brother and i did.  Is there any way to test a box?  Has this happened to anyone else?

Msd sells an ignition tester.

#1 failure is due to a bad ground.
