Air pollution vs. noise pollution
Which one is worse? Here is why I ask - I have a-hole neighbors who smoke constantly on their rear patio. Because of this I can't open my windows without getting lungfuls of smoke and making the house smell like a bar. Don't get me wrong here - I've got nothing against smokers, I have a few friends who smoke and I do go to the bars now and then. I just don't want my house or myself to smell smokey 24/7. So recently we've decided to stop being so courteous with music volume. I like my music loud and so does everyone else I live with. The neighbors? Not at all, in fact, they called the cops one night. We didn't get a ticket or anything because it has to be 60 dB measured from the street to be considered an annoyance and worty of a citation. So my question to the board is what else can I do to end the battle? I've tried reasoning with them, asking them to smoke away from the building. I've complained to the landlord who does nothing. My only solution is to enjoy my heavy metal without hesitation to annoy them equally. I did have one piece of advice that was pretty funny - Call the fire department whenever they smoke. "I thought the place was burning!" Feel free to list some ideas, genuine or otherwise to help me deal with my neighbors
