Would anyone be interested in an all Fox Bird & Cougar Calendar? I'm thinking about putting one together for myself, but if others are interested I think it would be a good way to show off our underappreciated cars. I got a decent collection of Cougars and Tbirds on my comp, but if anyone wants to "nominate" a ride feel free to send me a pic along with the owners contact info. I still need to contact all of the onwers of pics I have for permission to use them. Also if you see your car here and don't want it in the calendar please let me know. Actually I just thought of this just moments ago so it's really in the begining stages right now.
I was thinking 6 Birds and 6 Cats for the calendar. Mostly modded but not exclusive. Owners info and car specs on each month. Take all the pics I have (recieve) and put them to a vote here and possibly on NATO. The top 6 Birds and Cats will be put in the calandar. I will more than likely use Cafepress.com (http://"http://www.cafepress.com/cp/customize/product.aspx?clear=true&no=75") as a publisher. And donate the whatever profits to foxtbirdcougarfourms, nato and any other partiting board.

Picture Sizes:
The pictures I am considering for the monthly spreads need to be of at least 150-300dpi @ 8.5x11 (landscape mode). The rest should be of no less than 100dpi. If you have Photoshop you can check this by going to, IMAGE>Image Size. The document size is what you want to pay attention to. The bigger the better. I can always reduce the size later, but I can't always go up without losing quality.
8/27: I have come up with a name for the calendar. Thundercats! Yeah it's not original but it fits. Also I need everyone to start emailing me their pics. I prefer email because it's easier for me to keep track of everything. My email address is ether947@gmail.com ("ether947@gmail.com").

Sept 30th is the final date to get your pics in to me. I think that is a generous amount of time to take (if necessary) and email your pics to me with enough time to edit them and get them ready for the calendar. I am hoping to have everything completed by the time the Holidays roll in.
10/01: Ok deadline is over and the pic submission is now closed. I want to thank everyone who sent in their pics. Overall I'd say it was a success. Got a great set of pics and hopefully everyone will be pleased with the results. My new job is preventing me from working on this throughout the week so I'm going to have to cram it all into a couple of sleepless weekends to have it ready in time for the holidays. I agree with Claude. Speakign from experience on the Cougarnuts one, everyone is all interested on wanting to get their pictures in and the whole voting process. But once the calendar is ready the sales do not match the previous enthusiasm.

Hey David, if we wanted our own calendar, could we just go straight to Cafepress individually with 12 pictures or is there some sort of quantity minimum?
With cafepress you can make just one calendar if you so desired. No quantity limitation. There is no money invested, unless you want to upgrade your store, and people basically buy directly from the publisher so they only print as many orders as they recieve. So the only thing really invested is your time.
I'm going to make a calendar. But from what it sounds like is everyone likes the idea, but no one wants to fork over the dough. So I'm going to create one based on my artistic tastes, and if anybody wants one I can post the linkage. If it's a success, then maybe next year we can do the whole voting thing.
But I can still use car selections. If you know of or have a sweet bird or cat let me know. I need the owners contact information though. That is most important.
If you opt to use mine I'll get a much better hi-res pic for you.....

Thanks. Timeframe hasn't really been determined yet, it's basically ASAP as of now. This may be a stepping stone to another project if all goes well, so quality is my main concern.

Why not do a bird only, a cougar only, and a " best of" calender set?
Well one, this board isn't Bird nor Cougar only and since the calendar is based off of the Birds/Cats here, I think it is very appropriate to keep that theme going with a single calendar. Would that make my life easier? Sure. I hate leaving out cars in the calendar (because there are WAAAAY more good looking cars here than I antited!), but I look at it this way. There's just more to choose from next time. :)
B. There is already a Cougar only calendar (as mentioned in the first couple of posts) and it didn't do so well. Why make a repeat of something that is already out there?
And triangle. That is just too much work for me. That's 36 high-res layouts, 3 covers, and billion pics to deal with. Not to mention all the font, shape and brush searching I'll be doing. To do it the right way, this will be a very time consuming project. Something I can definately use more of.

Idea, you are going for mostly modded cars correct. By the list of permissions you have, you clearly have more than enough.
so why not keep this calandar on track being mostly modded cars and say next year, focus on the mostly factory stock cars?

What's the going price these days to have gorgeous women like that to pose by your car. I'm glad she didn't put her butt prints on the paint :)
As of right now, most of the cars are modded, but there are a couple stockers in there. It's really coming down to who's car is more "photogenic". And that typically sways towards those who have modded their cars. It is also coming down to who can supply the best pics. Not everyone has a great digital camera and not everyone knows how to take good pics. I asked for more than enough cars just for that reason and to arrange the best "overall" mix of birds and cats. Plus not everyone wants to be or is not able to be in the calendar. There are so many variables involved that the shear numbers does not gaurantee (sp?) a successful calendar. So I encourage everyone to continue to send in their pics or just granting permission.
Glenn's layout really looks awesome because he takes really good hi-quality pics and he has a badass ride. :D Those make him a shoe-in. As with Eric's car. They really have good examples to go by.
The names with the asterisk is my way of keeping up with the cars that
may be used for the monthly spreads. The rest will be on the cover. I still need more cars for that.
Next year we could do that, but honestly there will be enough modded cars leftover to do another calendar. But we've got a whole nother year to plan for that one. :)

OK, when is the drop dead date?
I just got the clutch cable back in the car this evening, but still need to clean a few things and find a spot to snap a couple pics. I also have to wait for the weather to cooperate too...
I'm not really keen on an underhood shot of mine (it's not all that at the moment), but I'll clean things up and include one.
I think I am going to give everybody a month. That is plenty enough time IMO. Sept 30th (Sat) is the cutoff date. If you want to substitute an interior shot for an engine shot that's fine. I'm pretty flexible.

Antonio you are doing a hot job with this.... With the quality of the images and the overly professional appearence I would have to agree with *GASP* Mike R. and do a best of calender. It would be kinda cool to have a calender of drivers...but it just wouldn't be as hot as a grouping of the "pretty" cars. I only wish I had a car worth it as I certianly am not a "best of".

Well I think I'm going to have to opt out of this, or at least to the point of being able to get you some good pics for a spread.
A couple reasons...
The car is acting up...to the point of it gets to sit for a bit. The motor is apparently in it's death throes. (the blowby has gotten worse and the death rattle is coming back)
Also, I just don't have the time to get it anywhere to take any pics and the weather has not been cooperating when I've had time. So unless something miraculous happens this weekend (and it's supposed to rain), I'm not sure if I'll have anything worth the effort.
I'll be interested in one of the calenders though.

My apologies... but there has been a little snafu. My PC is on it's death bed (once again) and normally this would not be problem as I would just bring my work PC home on the weekends. Well I no longer work for that employer and that option is no longer available to me. And since I work for a corporation now they kinda frown on using their PCs for personal projects. I am in the process of crossing over to the darkside... yes I'm getting a Mac, but that won't bet here until sometime early next year. So in the mean time I am trying to get my g/f's laptop back up to snuff (it's a royal pain to have two PC's blue screen on the same day ...ugh!) plus she still needs it for schoolin' and whatnot so getting enough freetime on it is kinda tough. I must say it is looking bleek, as least for my target deadlines of Xmas and the first of the year, but I WILL be trying to get them done ASAP.

I will seriously ship you my laptop to finish this. But I have to get it back and working too. It's kinda for tuning Layla on the aftermarket ECM.

Close but no cigar. It's a 512 Mb RAM Dell box. I'll let you upgrade it for me though :D
lol... I just put a 1gb in my g/f's dell... much better... she only had 256mb to start with though.
What is wrong with your home PC? Whats it doing? or not doing persay.
Well let me start first by saying I just turned it on and that is the fastest it's ever booted up. Ever! Normally it's been taking 15 min up to past an hour. It resets whenever it wants to, not to mention my other graphics card died so I'm running a py backup. And speaking of monitors, mine needs to be replaced. There are some things I just can't see. Contrast and brightness are maxed. Thought I'm sure some of that has to do with the card. But either way its not good for editing graphics. It's a real POS. Basically only to be used to browse the web and download stuff.
This wasn't a problem until I switched jobs. I started everything with my work PC. I honestly thought I would never get away from that place. Now I'm in a bind, I may just have to grab a six pack of caffeine juice and stay up past bed time to finish it. But I'm off for a couple days around Xmas week and the g/f has her last report this weekend so I'll figure something out with the laptop.
Got some good news. I'm working on the Calendar right now and it seems as thought the laptop is handling everything with stride. :D
For now...
I just uploaded one to cafepress and it looks pretty good. I may end up leaving the car stats off just to finish the darn thing.

Someone here should have a page in your calender with multiple cars. Say.... Fred, with his XR7 and GS. The contrast the other nicely and think they would make for a nice page. Myself, the 88 is one ugly duckling and the 83 is borderline calender material.
Oh wait, I forgot I didn't download all of them from my email account. My bad. The Bird spot is filled. Possibly the Cat too...

I will post a link to the cafepress store when they are ready. Cafepress apparently stopped accepting checks/money orders so you will need a credit/debit card. If you don't have one, I may be able to make arrangements.

I really like the "twins" idea for next year. Too bad I couldn't keep the Cougar, it was identically optioned to Layla. Med Red/Red/moonroof. I'll have to find another one before next year...
