I could not be happier... i have been in the process of doing alot of work/engine swap in my existing 87 bird when i came across a great deal. I check the autotrader every monday morning online when they update the listings, well this monday i came across an 87 lx for sale for 3000.00 canadian. It looked nice in the pic so i went and had a look. To my amazement the car only had 96000 km or 57000miles and was literally brand new in appearance. She is fully loaded with 5.0, dual power seats, auto dim headlights, climate control, aftermarket removeable faceplate Clarion stereo, amp, speakers etc etc. Its silver in color and has spent its entire life in a garage and is 100% rust free. The engine is so quiet, no knocks, rattles, no puffs of blue. Its just starting to sink in now how good a deal it was. I will send some pis by tomorrow. I have put on my 17 inch Cobra R wheels last night and they are almost a perfect match for the paint job.:D

I am going to complete my initial plan to put in the roller block i have had built...91 roller with Edelbrock rpm aluminum heads, edelbrock carb and intake etc etc. I am going to pull out the original engine and throw it on the shelf including the computer and the wiring harness for the time being. Before everyone gets on my case about carb instead of FI, that is what i want. I am an old school hot rodder and have no use for ALL the wiring etc under the hood. I prefer a clean/chrome engine bay without wiring everywhere. I am not going to be using the car as a daily driver and i actually love  with carbs. I will be more than happy with tuning the car here and there to keep her running smooth for my weekend trips and car shows etc. I plan to get rid of the 3.08 gears and put in 3.55 instead. Some minor window tinting is also in order. The car actually has the original windsheild in it with no cracks!

I don't know why you want to put a carbed motor in it.  I mean what's so bad about fuel injection, seriously?  :D

there is absolutly nothing wrong with FI...i just have a thing for a clean engine bay. And what is so wrong with a carburator? For my application as stated before will be great. I have been driving toys with carbs my entire life and have NEVER had one let me down. They may need some tweeking here and there but that is minor. Any monkey can rebuild an Edelbrock carb for 40 bucks in a few hrs tops and bang its brand new again. I dont like looking at all the wires or troubleshooting sensors, injectors, emissions bla bla bla. With a carb setup its easy...fuel,air,spark if you have all of those you cant go wrong. Now for everyday use FI is the way to go, i drive a full size 03 GMC pick up and i put about 50k miles a year on it without fail...i would never do that with a carbed unit. I must stress this is going to be around a 360-380hp small block going in the car and that is not easy or cheap to do to a computer controlled vehicle without the power adders available.

One question. If the car is so mint, i.e. low mileage, garage kept, not making any noise and whatnot, why are you going to jump in and modify it? Why not just find a cheaper alternative like a run down V-6 car or something.

Not meaning to bust on you or anything, it's your car so you do with it as you wish.

How is that cheaper?  If he wants a stock body with a little more oomph why not get one with good paint and no dent already?  He's got the rims and tires he wants.  All's he needs is a different powerplant.  Besides, this way he'll have a roller 302 that can be used for another project or sold off for more money than a 3.8 especially if it were a run down 3.8.  P.S. why don't we have a boat anchor smiley?:D

That's understandable. I personally wouldn't do all that to a solid stock near pristine 5.0 car but hey, to each his own. Not saying he's doing anything wrong, afterall it is his car.

If it were a spotless 20th Anniversary Cougar, TC, or 83-86 turbo Xr7 with low miles I'd leave it as well.  An 87 LX I would have no problem ripping a motor out of.
