I've got a question which has probably been asked before but I haven't seen it yet. Eric's Cool Cats mentions something about having the right MAP sensor for the HO conversion and his having a part # E7DF-9F479-A2A. My 87 TBird Sport has a MAP sensor with part # E7EF-9F479-A2A. This same part # was on the MAP sensor of the 5.0 HO Lincoln I pulled the upper intake from. I've since got one off an 86 Mustang GT Auto with # E6EF-9F479-A1A. What is the difference between an "E7DF-#-A2A" and "E7EF-#-A2A" or "E6EF-#-A1A"? Will either of the two I have work with the 87 Mustang Auto "DC" computer I have for the conversion? I also have two 86 GT computers as backups..."VJ1" and "VM1" both alledgedly Auto computers. Any comments on what computer/MAP combination would be best for my HO cam / E6 head / 1.7 roller rocker combo conversion? It may sound technical, but comments on past experience is appreciated.

curious to see if this works.
AFIK there is basically NO difference. I've used virtually ever version available(even 4 cyl) and could never see any difference. I have the original TC unit back on my 5.0(after trying 4-5 others).
Eric says he has one that makes the idle higher, but I contend it's defective(which may be a good thing for his usage).
I'm going to go with Tom's experience (read: old age) and agree with him. ;)
Technically they shouldn't make that much of a difference. In my experience it did...but it could be that I have a funky one, who knows. Try yours first, see if it works...if it does, you're cool.
Thanks for the replies. This gets rid of one of the worries. Which computer do you think would be best for my conversion? The '87 or one of the '86's?
'86-'88 SD all work... I figure the newer the better, as they were learning and the programming should be better. Of course if it was a GM who knows, they put out some junk programs about every other year.
I have '86 LSC, '88 LSC, '87 Stang and '88 Stang HO EEC's loaned to a freind. As soon as he decides which one he wants for his F150 HO conversion(trying them all), I'm selling the others... Hopefully I'll have them in a couple of weeks...
That's good. I'll stick with my original plan and go with the '87. The other two will be backups if the '87 (ebay purchase) turns out to be a dud. Thanks for the advice.
