man i want the ultimate sleeper. anyone know of any manufacturers/sites i can find a supercharger for the 3.8 that would be amazing to have somethin like that instead of spending all the cash to swap an engine in. thanks again. you guys are a real big help.
well if you are gonna put a supercharger onthe 3.8 you are gonna need alot of work. why not go get a wrecjed super coupe and thake the motor trans and everything from that and put it in your car. would be cheaper than building up the stock 3.8
Well, I know that MM&FF posted an article that they put a ATI Procharger on an 05 Mustang 6-cyl, which I have no clue the displacement. I'm pretty sure that it might be a c to to any supercharging to a 3.8 that's not already out of a Super Coupe. Which also implies that you could also use that supercharger. Anyhow, I know practically nothing about doing any of this compared to the other guys, but I can at least give you a start on your homework.
youl spend more trying that than you would on a FRPP crate engine and still be un happy...
Hmm, 3.8's are not worth the money. What year is yours anyway? Just guessing I'm going to go with an 87 just because that would be downright dumb if not impossible to supercharge.
But do we all agree if anyone here could help him it'd be Spazpuppies? You might also hit up SCCoA.com. LIke they've said, it's not a terribly stable engine to begin with.
SCCoA wouldnt help much
there are a few problems with supercharging your 3.8L. One is that the engine is weak, its sometimes not able to handle the abuse of an aggressive driver in stock form. It uses a speed density computer. There isnt an easy way to swap to MAF, you would have to use a 91-94ish EEC out of a 3.8L mn12, and you would have to repin a large amount of the wiring harness to get the car to run, then add the wiring for MAF.
The main real reason is that, even if you supercharge your 3.8L, and with some mild mods, you wont be happy with the power, youll be just barely faster than a stock 5.0 mustang, and spending thousands of dollars to only go that fast is dissapointing.

Can't remember if he actually sells superchargers, but he does sell alot of blower specific things.
Ok, all things stupid asside (from me atleast) I would swap a motor out of a 94 -98 mustang in. There are companys that sell superchargers for its front drive configuration. Plus the engine is rated at a higher factory hp than your fox one.
With that, he'll have some fun wiring to do. Aren't 94-98 3.8 Mustangs Mass Air and OBD II?
I say megasquirt what you have now. Then the possibilities are unlimited as far as camshaft, airflow upgrades, and forced induction.
94-95's are still OBD1, but they use a 104pin EEC connector if i remember correctly, or something stupid that they did with the early years.
I thought that 94-95's were eec-v, they have 4 02 sensors dont they? I'm not sure. I know that the 94-95 v8 mn12's were obd2, actually the earliest to use the system.
I'm challenging that. I call that 94-95 V6 Stangs are OBDII. So far everything I have found agrees with that, but i'll keep on looking.
I've also found that they are 104 pin EEC-V. I'm still researching. Maybe instead of googling I'm going to have to actually open up a real book in a few minutes.
yeh, you cant just throw a supercharger on an n/a 3.8. The engine cant handle it. 60 some odd thousand miles is pretty good for the motor but that engine in my opinion is not worth f*ckin with. i bought mine(88 with 3.8) with 58k on it but lost the heater core at 82k in the summer which in turn made me loose the headgaskets and that's why i swapped in the motor that I have. If you wanna do this swap, good luck to u and I'll help you the best that I can but it's going to be a lot of work. If you want to supercharge the engine you got, id reccommend building it up first and if you do that you might as well go all out and get all of magnum powers stuff inculding the mp3.
Now i remember what i was thinking.
94-95 were the years that the stangs used a distributor, while the 96-98's use coil packs and a cam position sensor. For some reason i just couldnt figure out what they did different.
well the reason why i said get a 3.8 out of an sc is because there all ready set up for the supercharger. yeah there still pr0ne to headgasket falure but im sure if it was milled or something that would prevent then from blowing. but not indefinatly. but the 3.8 supercharged motor is already set you just need the harness comp and obviously the engine. and a good manual or sorce of info. look at coolcats.net in the tech section there should be some info in there as well
