yesterday while I was driving on the highway at about 65-70 car was running fine. I stopped to make a turn and the car started to ping and then lost power and wouldnt accelerate. I checked the ignition timing and it looked to be way off so I brought it back to where it should be and it was still running like it was way off. I thought maybe I threw a cam follower but all were in place and looked fine. the car is blowing alot of black smoke at an idle and if you try to rev it up it has no power and floods. I think I might have a few stuck injectors. any ideas? I need to get this figured out today need the car for work tomorrow. please help :(
well nevermind. its another blown head gasket... :shoothead any ideas to what might be causing this to happen so often?
i had a problem with mine and the block deck was warped about .040 thou thats why it is sitting and ive got a v-8 in mine.
i was going thru headgaskets every 2-3 months on a fat tune @20 psi.
sucks when something this major happens to your daily driver :(
can someone remind me how many heads there are on a 2.3? ford seems to think there are 2 said that if you do one then you need to do both???? said it would cost $1,400 to change the head gasket's idiots..

Problem is probably you block /head, like what was posted earlier they get warped after time, take them to a machine chop have them both decked, problem is your going to have to tear it all down to do so. I think they make a head gasket with will compensate for a slight warp but i think they are like 80 a peice and not sure if they are even avaiable for a 4 cyl
What gasket are you using? Bolts? Bolt holes clean?
I'd check the head to make sure it's flat.

felpro gasket new bolts from auto zone holes where clean...... talked to the shop foreman from ford today and the flat refuse to work on my car. told me that it wasnt worth putting money into and that I should take it somewhere else. gee thanks Ford guys
turns out I had a warped head getting machined tomorrow will post updates as soon as I get them
well car is done and I am going to pick it up in about 30 minutes. grand total of about $860

You said you head was warped did anyone check your block? if not, it not perm fix. As far a ford looking at it heh give that up. wouldnt look at my tranny either. But what i cant get is the 860 is that just for decking?
