Hi y'all, been lurking for a while, and now y'all have me inspired to start some mods. I think I know all the parts that I need to collect to lower my '88 LS (3.8), but in the meantime, I'm trying to figure out a way to increase the hp from the base 145 that we've all come to know and love. I've had my Cougar for almost 17 years now, yes I bought it new and I'm giving away my age here and it's been a super reliable vehicle, but now it's time to have some fun with it.
I've had some good results tuning the chip on my '88 K-5 Blazer (TBI) and now I want to see what I can do with my 'ol cat. I figure that a speed density, MPI system would keep me challanged for quite a while. :-) Sooooo, does anybody know where I can find diagnostic software like Win ALDL for GM, and a tuning package (like tunerPro for GM)?
Well I think you could have a chip burned for the computer but if you want too have some fun with it I would serriously consider droping in a 5.0 HO Ford. The reason being that there aren't many performance parts avaliable for the 3.8 and the 5.0 has TONS of aftermarket support. Just my :2c: .

There are some sick after market parts for the 3.8
You might also look into finding a late model F150 for the 4.2 then get the stroker kit to make it a 4.6.
Check out this site, it has a lot of info on the EEC-IV system(software for the tuners etc)... It may be possible to tune it with a Tweecer or EEC tuner, but I'm not sure..
