I just read the first issue of Motor Trend Classic, and I learned something about my one of my favourite GM cars: The Oldsmobile Tornado is actually called a "Toronado". I've read countless articles about the car including Jay Leno's LS6-powered, RWD-converted one, but I never before noticed that extra "o" in there. Apparently GM did not have rights to use the word "Tornado". Strange...
I've never heard them refered to anything other than a Toro-nad-o. I rember them being introduced('66 I think), thats what they were advertised as... Not Tornados..
I've known that they're called a Toronado but I still like to call them a Tornado. Toronado has too many syllables for me
Well since I have the word "Toronto" lodged in by brain Toronado was natural.
