Title: throttle body swap
Post by: Dookie86 on August 16, 2005, 11:53:55 AM
i have a throttle body from a mustang, and i plan on doing the swap today.  can i swap the throttle body and the plate thing that sits between the tb and upper intake on my stock 86 5.0 bird?  can i use the stock positioning sensor (think its called that) and all the cables? any help greatly appreciated

Yes, but without the HO upper you may not notice much..... Some say it has better throttle response, however I would have to say you would notice more once you swapped to an HO upper as well.

yeah it does. I would use it I hear it gives slightly better airflow somehow. you will want the ho egr though. If not its at least as good as you have now

The '86s use a different type of transmission TV cable hook than do the later models. You wou't be able to use anything but the '86 58mm Stang TB, unless you can swap the TV cable attaching pin. Its bradded in place, will need to be ground off and rewelded to the new TB. If you don't hook up the TV cable, your tranny will be toast in a few minutes.
