Title: 85 Side Molding Turbo Coupe insert question
Post by: hast2307 on February 17, 2026, 08:53:39 PM
To All,
I have a 8 5 Turbo Coupe that I had to take off the passenger side side molding and in doing so, the Turbo Coupe insert fell out.  It looks like it was glued into the side molding.  Has anyone ever had to deal putting the insert (glue) back into the side molding?

My first thought was to use panel bond, but it is black and the molding is grey.  The next thought was to use ultra grey and mix some black paint with it to get the right color grey.  Then the thought occurred to me that I could mix ultra grey with black adhesive sealant to again get the right color.

Thanks,
Harry

I would definitely do a test first if you’re going to mix 2 different adhesives, make sure it cures properly. Maybe even with the tinting depending on how much “tint” it takes.

Some of the JB-Weld Plastic Bonder epoxy would probably work out OK. It winds up black-ish.
