Title: no compresson
Post by: 460 turbo truck on July 30, 2005, 09:34:07 PM
i'm helping my buddy with his motor swap in his truck, and we've got no compresson, we thought it might have jumped a tooth on the timing, so we re-did it ..and re-did it again..and again..all and all about 5 times....still nothing, we get about 3 PSI on the gauge..,

We pulled the valve covers of, and watched the rocker arms move really well,

any body know what the problem could be ?

we tryed to pour some oil down the cylinder, and let it sit for about 5 mins....and still no compresson,  each hole has about the same    2-4 PSI

Does the gauge actually work? Try it on your car.
Is the carb/throttle (if installed) held open during the test?
Did you have the engine apart for a rebuild, or is it a previously running engine you're just dropping in?

the motor came outa my old truck, (RIP, it was still running when i bailed out of the wreck)

i know the gauges works, for shure,

carb wasn't on the motor,

he took of the rockers, and still nothing, we are assuming the rings collapsed, so well go from there
