Title: What size are the water pump pulley bolts for a 3.8L?
Post by: JeremyB on July 26, 2005, 01:05:50 AM
During my earlier clutch fan debacle I ended up ruining a set of WP pulley bolts and installing a flex fan with a spacer on my Thunderbird. Anybody happen to know the thread size of the bolts? I know the head is 1/2"(the originals were 7/16") and they are fine thread. I'm lazy and would rather not have to get cut up taking the bolts out only to measure them and throw them back in. I need the size so I can run shorter bolts when I install my electric fan.

I have a old water pump out of my '84 3.8.
The bolt holes in the  are 5/16-24.
Check it with a tap.

of course an 84 would be standard thread but in 87 and up  they should all be metric but I dont know.
