Title: shorties
Post by: outofnothing5 on July 23, 2005, 12:14:14 PM
I am wanting to put on BBK shorties with an X pipe and flowmasters on my '88 tbird Sport with 5.0.  My dad and I have gotten into a discusion as to weather the shorties need to be equal length or unequal length. Does it make a difference?  Could I get the x pipe now and wait on the headers?  Please help

The X pipe won't fit without the headers due to the type of joint they have on them. The stock exhaust manifolds are a gasket type setup and the shorties are a ball and socket type.

On the equal unequal qestion, do you plan on running any type of force industion?

If so unequal. Because you wnat the exhaust gasses out of the engine as fast as possible. The equal length on a n/a engine will gain you a few more ponys but not much, unless it one wild n/a engine.
