Title: Mystery Part
Post by: rotorr22 on August 16, 2017, 08:32:26 PM
Found this in the trunk of my Bird when I bought it and have no idea where it goes. Any help would be appreciated. A pic would be great.

No. It doesn't seem to go there.

I don't recall ever seeing that in one of these cars. Might be from some other vehicle...

It doesn't look familiar to me either.

I put these P/N's which are stamped into the part in a browser, but no joy. Tried Ebay also.

PN E6SB-6347071-AA
ASSY E6SB-6347184-AA

The "E6" is 1986, the same year as the car.

Since my car is an '85 and doesn't have a third brake light I'm taking a stab here but is it a removable cover to allow access to the wiring of that light?

That would make sense as that is the area of the trunk I found it in. Unfortunately my mind could not wrap itself around the concept of how it mounted.

I looked in my 1992 pricebook and there is a part number listed as E7SZ-6347071-A. The "SZ" in the part number specifies Thunderbird (and Cougar if the same) so I believe it belongs to your car and this was probably also used on the '87-'88 cars as well.
