I brought this up a few years ago where the EVTM showed a voice alert module , yet no car we know of was produced with it.

Tom (turbocoupe50) confirmed this a long while back

There is a mention on coolcats site, that it has been used in 83 cats, but most of them were swapped to standard warning chime under warranty. I remember a video couple years ago, where somebody had this module off an early aero bird or cat.

They did exist and were used on our cars. Finding one...that's another issue altogether. I haven't found any lately, new or used. It may be possible to use one from another Ford that may have had a similar option, perhaps a Lincoln. That's the best info I have at this point.

Uhhh I don't remember that(really)... Having owned only one '86 and none earlier, I have next to zero experience with the earlier models...

The 84 shop manual says it was used in Mark VII, T-Bird and Cougar.
The 83-85 EVTMs cover it. The 85 indicates it is for 2.3L only.
Here is an article you may find interesting:
http://papers.sae.org/830201/

The shop manual P/N 10D974
I don't know if you add a E3 or E4 prefix to that makes it a valid P/N or not.

Leaves me out, I only have '86 & '88 EVTM and a set of '86 & '87 Shop manuals...

I looked at a car with one, it also had both the stalk signal horn and the regular horn button. I believe it was an 84 model year car.

I have only heard one 83 Heritage with the module and it was a female voice, maybe 5 or 6 warnings.  Door is open,  lights are on etc

I had the Chrysler version in one of my old turbo dodges about 14 years ago, and I really, really got a kick out of how people reacted to it. When I learned that a similar system could be found in some Tbirds, I very carefully listened to the muted sound of my new to me '83 Heritage with great antition hoping to hear a voice, but was disappointingly greeted only by the faintest sound of ding-ding-ding.

I would add it to my car if I could obtain the parts. No doubt about it.

Well, it seems to be easier to make a brand new one, than waiting for one placed on ebay/craigslist/...

Warning chime has these inputs/outputs:
1 - seatbelt lamp
2 - RUN PWR
3 - ACCY PWR
4 - door open in
5 - lamps on in
6 - key in switch in
7 - tone in (probably something like "Check gauges" warning)
8 - door ajar in
9 - seatbelt buckle in
10 - GND

That means it should be able to tell these sentences accordingly to forgotten task:
Door is ajar.
Please fasten your seatbelts. (+ Thank you.)
Your headlights are on.
Don't forget your keys.
Please check your gauges.

You may check them in google translator (http://"https://translate.google.com/#en/cs/Door%20is%20ajar.%0APlease%20fasten%20your%20seatbelts.%0AYour%20headlights%20are%20on.%0ADon%27t%20forget%20your%20keys.%0APlease%20check%20your%20gauges.") - it has speech synthetiser with female voice.

Do you like it? Would you buy it if I make this thing work? I'd like to fit it inside the original case.

I have it on my 84 Bird, a vent window V8 car, but with no power windows.  The only reminders it voices for are is: "The key is in the ignition" , " The door is ajar" and it is a male voice.  As for the headlights being left on when the key is out of the ignition, and the drvr door opened I think it just chimes and thats it, no voice reminder on that from what I remember. Its not my daily driver so I dont recall on that one. Hope that helps.

One of these would be relatively simple to construct, if not a little time consuming. Ideally? One would use the original voice,  but one would need a functional original from which to copy the voice. The hardware could easily be recreated from modern components.

I would absolutely do something like this, but I just don't have the time in my life right now, so yeah, I would probably buy one.

If it helps, I might be able to pull up the appropriate wiring information for each year car. My AllData shop computer coverage goes back to '83 for Fords, but I am not certain how much wiring info is included, as I have not looked. I know that the EEC-III CFI info for my '83 is pretty lacking, because I had to turn to obscure Google search results to even find diagnostic procedures, but the 84+ EEC-IV stuff is very well covered, as is the rest of the vehicle wiring for 84+ Fords.

I don't expect this thing being changed during production. At least between years 85 and 88.

I can try to get the part prefix or any numbers off the voice module in mine if it would help someone.  I havent been under the dash of it in a while, but I would think its fairly accessible.

You can. Even though I would use modern components, I'd like to see, what's inside the original module.

I think that would be very helpful, as it would give us voice alert nerds a number we could plug in to search engines, set eBay alerts for, etc..

I would certainly love to have that number.

Then again, if we just built one, it could have multiple languages! The idea of my car yelling at the girlfriend in Klingon for leaving the door open with the lights on, for some reason, amuses the hell out of me.
