Title: putting a new 5.0 out of a 88 cat into.a 87 cat with all.digital dash and py 5.0

The.engine.harness is a little.difforent and can.anyone tell.me.can i use my gas tank from my 88 will the digi dash.hold me back from getting the.car running.both.engines.are.same.just one is digital one is not

The computer harness's would have to be repined,not real easy. Your best bet is to find a 87 harness,again not so easy. The tank is the same ,the sending unit is different, it will read backwards.I don't think the I/P will stop it from starting.most of the senors will be wrong on the 88 motor for it. I did the opposite of what your doing a while back.

So the harness on the 87 is in fair condition and the 1988 is like new its just that my 88 in my prifile pic was stolen bent frame and core support pretty bad.but all im doing is swapping engines their both 5.0 i hope it will work out i really dont want to sell these cars.cant i just use the 88 ecu and harness.???if i do that i may as well take out the whole dash and get rid of all thedigital bs i hate it but oh well i guess ill see what happens  and look into it some more

I do have both a 1987harness and the 1988 harness and ecu i have all the parts i need both cars are complete.i just put the steering column out of the 88 in the 87 with np and the seats and got rid of the 87s leather.

If you got the 87 harness your all set. Just use the coolant and oil sensor from the 87 on the 88. Should be plug and go.
