Title: Parting out two 88 Turbo Coupes
Post by: 50RACER on December 11, 2013, 12:11:07 AM
I have one complete silver 88 Turbo Coupe and one 90% complete silver 88 Turbo Coupe that I am going to be parting out. I was originally going to combine the two cars due to rust issues in the complete one, but my plans have changed and I just need to get the space. I have lots of rust free body panels and doors in black, silver, and the light blue metallic. The car with the rust issues was a fully optioned car with leather, moonroof, etc. and it has 110,000 miles on it. Let me know if there is anything you need. The cars are located in Northern Virginia.

One thing that this car does have is a perfect dash that has not been covered.

It's a good 20 footer. Lots of rust underneath. Engine bay, k member, right front fender, rocker panels, bottom of doors, etc. It looks like the car must have spent most of its life stored inside where there was a lot of moisture. The rear looks like it has scales.

I'll sell you the steering wheel without the horn button cover for $50 shipped to you. If you want the horn button, that will be another $40. This one is complete, in great condition with no broken tabs. I have another one that works, but has a broken tab and has been repaired to fit for $25.

I sure do!!! Pretty sure the paint is good too! I know the paint is good, just not sure if there are any paint chips or anything. The car had been repainted and it looked good. No rust! $75. Come and get it. I am about 10 miles south of Manassas. All of the window and track are out of this one as well as the door lock actuator, but I do have other doors that we can steal the glass and tracks from. I have the drivers side also. Oh, and the door emblem is also gone.

Im not sure...i know the horizontal piece is welded, and the vertical piece is tack-welded to it...but the bottom of mine is completely gone, so I have no idea how it connects to the car, or if the spare tire well is the same on the thunderbird and cougar

I have good door and trunk weatherstripping, also good dew wipes. I also have some moldings from front fenders and rear quarters. I have one really good set of rear quarter molding, but I have not pushed them for sale yet because they have some paint splatter on them that I have not figured how to get off. It looks like someone probably drove through some freshly painted road stripeing. I do though have a couple of good individual pieces. Some have some minor imperfections. If you can be more specific about the pieces you want, I can send some photos.

Sorry, I did not answer your question about the dew wipes, if you are still interested in them. I do have good ones and I will sell the pair for $45 shipped. These would actually have to come in a different box than the weatherstripping due to the sizing of both items.

Is that the weather stripping that the window slides in?
No. There is a piece that surrounds the inside of the door frame and then there is another that starts at the base of the front of the quarter window and goes along the top of the door opening down toward the base of the windshield. There are a couple of screws that attach it at the front of the quarter window.

Take a look at the pics and let me know which parts you want and well take it from there. These are good. A little minor surface rust on the bottom part. The pic and flash make it look much worse than it actually is. They are tack welded in so it will take a little effort to get them out, but I have the tools.

wow...why are you parting this car? looks in good shape compared to mine! So its just tack welded with that piece of foam behind it, seems like it would fit mine. if it doesnt take too much to pop it off, it would help me out. A couple other things im looking for that you might have;

Ok, so you just want the vertical piece? Is that correct? What color visors are you looking for? Do they need to be for a sunroof car or non-sunroof? There is a difference. I have them both in the grey color. I have most everthing that you are looking for, but sending the spare tire to Canada, I am afraid would be very expensive. I recently shipped one to NY and that cost was $35.00. Oh, and the answer to parting out, I bought this car as a roller to transfer all my good stuff from the rust problem car, but life cirspoogestances have caused me to have to abandon that plan.

thats sad :/.
I have a shipping address in america, so none of this stuff needs to be shipped internationally.
I need brown visors, lighted, for a car without sunroof. If yours are grey, thats okay, the fabric can be changed and the plastic can be painted, or so I'm told. Same thing for the piece under the steering column.
also, I dont know if you have it, but i mentioned the carpeted bag/cover for a full size spare, that I sometimes see in these cars, do you have one of those?

My wires were cut by previous owner for some strange reason. The wires are still there but were cut off at fender area. I could re wire but would prefer the factory plugs for the factory lights.

Vinnie, I am not trying to be difficult, but trying to get these things out, at least at first glance looks like it could be rather challenging. So, how about this, I'll get one out (I've got air chisels and sawzalls etc,), tell you how much time I have in it based on $50 per hour and then we will go from there. Any shipping will simply be what it is. Does that sound fair? I thought getting the vertical spare tire bracket was going to be difficult, but it took me about 10 minutes.

I crawled up in the trunk and got a better look at it this afternoon. There are 8 spot welds on each one holding them in place, but you do have to lay on your back in the trunk to drill them. On that spare tire bracket there were 6 spot welds total on that and the one took me about 10 minutes to get it. Based on that, it may not be to terribly difficult to get them out. Still, I don't really know until I do one.

I have two sets of the armrest bases. I have one pair of the armrest pads and one additional left side pad. Depending on how complete you need them, I have one of the drivers side door lock / unlock switch plates and I believe I have the reflector / light packages that go on the corners. Hey wondering if u could add one more thing. If one of your cars is auto, would you possibly have the trim that goes around the floor shifter. The tabs on mine are broke. Please and thank you.

If you want just the 2 armrest pads, I'll ship those for $65. If you want the console shifter trim piece, add another $30. The black metal piece around the opening will need to have the paint touched up, but otherwise it looks fine.

Do you have the rear window defroster tab and harness from the tab to the main wire harness? This is what the connector on the main harness looks like (I think that is the one). As you can see, the tab broke off of the rear defroster. Looking to solder the tab and connect it back where it belongs.

You know, I just threw away all those pieces last week because I thought no one was ever going to buy them. Geez!!! But alas, I still have two cars with them! I'll sell all 4 pieces for $150 plus whatever the shipping would have to be. I'd have to get them off and package them up before I could get a good figure on that. They're worth $150 just for the trouble it is to get them all apart.

This thing is part of the trunk wiring harness that goes all the way from the trunk lights to near the fuse box before there is an actual plug to separate it. Do you want all of that? That is a lot of work to get what you want. Could you deal with me simply cutting the wires in the trunk area and your just using some method to reconnect them? Also, do you need the end that appears to be soldered to the rear window? If so, I don't know how successful I'd be at getting that, but I'll sure give it a try if that is what you need. Just let me know. Thanks, Bryan

I would need the end part that gets soldered to the window. In my car it had a small harness that went from the window into the connector previously posted (I think it was about 6-8 inches long) and a second wire that went to a nearby ground. If there is no plug next to the shock tower, I would appreciate enough wire to get it back to my connector.

Just giving myself a bump here. I am very motivated to sell the remaining parts from these two cars. I have a great TC 2.3 turbo motor with only 110,000 miles. I'd like to get $500 for it, but make me a reasonable offer. I also have the matching A4LD tranny that went with it. It appears that I need to move shortly and this stuff needs to go.

I have another with a 3.55 that needs axles, which I don't have and, calipers / rotors which I do have. I'll sell them both together for $150. I don't have one right now, but just FYI, I recently shipped a front fender from Virginia to Maine via Greyhound bus for $71 and it only took two days to get there. Only drawback is the seller has to take it to the station and the buyer has to pick it up at their nearest station, but shipping large items is reasonably priced.

I have the amps also, but the mounting tabs are both broken, but creating new ones would be simple. You just need to drill out a couple of rivets. I don't have the harness for them, but that may be in your car. The amp mounts in the back behind the rear seat. The radio will play without the amp. You can turn it off with the EQ.

Title: Parting out two 88 Turbo Coupes

I'm really interested in an upper bumper/header panel. Im just thinking shipping will totally kill me.
If you are still looking for a TC header panel, I just got an 87 TC parts car that has a great header panel. The color is the burgundy metallic if that makes a difference. I want $190 for it + shipping. If that sounds ok to you, let me know your address and I can get shipping for you. It's probably not as bad as you may think. I have shipped a few of these. Not that bad. Thanks.

I now have a good hood release bracket and cable. I will sell it for $45 shipped.

I believe you just bid on the one I have for sale on ebay from a Turbo Coupe. I assume that they would be the same shifter as the 5.0, but I don't know for sure. Maybe someone else on the forum can answer that question for you.

I need the plastic cover that covers the slave cylinder on the bell housing on an 87 or 88 5 speed. Do you happen to have one?

I'm interested in the driver inside dew wipe and the right side tail light gasket (rubber that is inserted into top of the plastic tail light piece just below the trunk/body as it rounds the corner of the car). Also interested in the shifter if it is automatic.

The automatic shifter assy is different between a turbo coupe and a 5.0. The turbo coupe has P R D OD 2 1, the AOD 5.0 has P R D OD 1
You have to find a donor 5.0 sport edition or a Cougar that has the floor shifter.

I have an automatic shifter, but not interested in selling just the . I would rather sell the shifter as a complete unit. Just sold one for $65 + shipping.

Darn. I found a couple places that sell the motors for a helluva lot cheaper than what auto part stores want, but regulators are apparently unobtainium.

I had a bunch of doors, with the regulators in them, but I moved last march and couldn't take them with me. Had to s them. Hated to do that but not much choice.

You are about 9 months late. I had to move last March, and my car had an absolutely perfect dash and I couldn't get anyone interested in it. It went to the crusher. I hated doing that but I had no choice. I don't have one at present.

No, that is the one from last year with the dash I hated to send to the s yard. The one that I have now has a cracked dash, but otherwise looks like this one. In fact, I put the leather interior from the car in the photo in the car that I currently have. I actually bought the interior back from a local guy that I had sold it to.
