Im lookin at an 82 tbird with 5.0 and may have aod? in it and 8.8 not sure on that. i was wonderin if the 82 engine mounts would work in the 84 cougar? i have a 3.8 and i want to go to 5.0. Just wondering if those mounts would work. and would ANY fox body of the 80's work for the 5.0 engine mounts. just kind of curious ont his... id rather run a 351W but it runs 5.0 mounts too lol. depends what engine i can get Thanks yall
Not sure about an '82, but the '83-'85 Cougs/Birds use the same motor mounts as the Mustang.
Only Birds to get a 8.8" from the factory was the '87-'88 Turbo Coupes..
That tranny might be the FIOD auto...but that's not an issue.
The mounts should work.
just tryin to figure out what parts off this car would be usuable to me on my cougar. thanks for your help and ive never heard the FIOD transmission yet. any thoughts on it?
FIOD----AOD same thing... From the Baumann transmission web site....
The Automatic Overdrive (AOD) transmission was introduced in 1980 as Ford's first four-speed automatic overdrive transmission (a.k.a. AOT or FIOD in some literature). Internals are loosely based on the FMX. The AOD was finally replaced by the AOD-E/4R70W in 1994 for all remaining applications.
Well that's good to know. I'm just going off the info and tags on my 80 XR-7 that has the 302-auto (for now..it does well enough to limp it in and out of storage :p)
so the fiod would be just as good as the aod and all parts interchangable if i understand correctly? its just another name for same transmission? just want to get my info correct
Thanks for the help i really appreciate it
When I bought a remanufactured AOD, the box it came in was labeled FIOD, so all it is is another name, same part.
