Title: Front bumper emblem
Post by: V8Demon on April 27, 2012, 01:31:59 AM
I need the "Mercury" emblem that inlays in the front bumper cover on an 87-88 Cougar.

Pics if possible.  Looking for something in great shape or even NOS if you should have it.

Thanks for looking!

In vinyl? Wouldn't that look too thin? Needs that "thick" emblem look. Maybe a thin piece of plastic with the vinyl on it, then covered in acrylic.

all the stuff on my lincoln is just vinyl.  maybe I could put it on a piece of black plastic to raise it up

It's about an 1/8" thick so I would imagine you would want it raised.

As far as the trunk emblems, I removed them and filled the holes with metal.Cleaner look IMHO.
I believe Eric has something I could use.

Stay tuned....

I have my old bumper cover with the emblem...

Is there a clean way to get the emblem off?  Or you can buy the whole bumper cover if needed. :)

According to the conversion chart (I know nothing of metric sizes), these are a little less than an inch tall....closer to 3/4 of an inch I believe....

0.78 inches tall.

The item I was looking for has shipped.  Pics upon receipt!  You guys should like this.  It's not your standard stuff....

The new emblem looks great. Is it the factory replacement? Where did you find it?

These cars were never sold in the United States or Canada with that emblem.  It IS a Ford part though.....
