Interesting that they removed the trim between the fenders. And it's solid grey under not striped. Mild custom on the paint. But I like it.

"Muscle car of the 80s" not really LOL. Coulda been, shoulda been, I guess a buck fifty is a lot for that guy to handle...

The ad is full of garbage prose, and the writer has apparently never felt the difference between 150 ponies and 220 or so.

Sharp car....for a Cougar.

My bet as to the reason for the "body mods": rust repair.

I'll disagree.  That car was sprayed on the cheap IMO and I'm guessing it was pretty straight and didn't require too much repair work.  The old paint was most likely tired looking though.  As we all know here, the molding that is not present can be a pain to take off and keep well if you are not familiar with it.

All I know is I've been through MD and by that latitude the winters are clearly less harsh given the amount of old stuff on the road not yet destroyed...

It's a little embellished, but I kinda liked the nostalgic description.

I'd say it was a cheap and quick paint job based on the fact that they just painted over the "mercury" and "cougar" wording on the trunk lid.  I suppose some people would choose to do that intentionally because they like it better, but I don't think that is the case here.  Still looks pretty good though.
