Title: Engine been sitting for 6 months
Post by: thesoldan on June 01, 2005, 03:15:30 PM
I have an engine that hasnt been run in over six months.  It was running fine before that.  Im going to change the oil and filter before I start it.  Any other advice on what I should do?

Has it been in the car the whole time? has it been inside or outside? change the fluids and check for mouse nests, loose wiring, and other debris and you should be good to go.

Its an 88 Tbird 5.0 that I just picked up.  The tranny went bad so the guy parked it.  He said the thing ran great except for the transmission.  I just want to get it running enough to move it from the front yard to the back yard - my house already is looking like a junk yard.

only thing i can think of is takeing the coil plug out and cranking it a few times to get the oil flowing threw the block again, then let it idol a while.
