Title: tech behind a carb....
Post by: Haystack on May 28, 2005, 03:16:28 PM
Hey sorry if this thread has already been made, but I am looking into converting my EFI 5.0 to a carb. I have seveire wireing issues and I really dont want to rewire the whole car. I also may have a bad computer. So basically, what I am looking to do is convert it to a carb as cheaply and easily as possbile. I know that I will need duraspark II ignition and obviously diffrent intake. Other then that what else would I need. I am not going to do this for sure, But I would like a fun car that is more simple and easier to deal with when a problem comes.

Haystack,
It's not difficult to do, or course depending on the engine.
Replacing the intake manifold and Duraspark II, I would opt of the MSD ignition system, much better performer.
You will also need a fuel pressure regulator, the CFI or EFI systems use a much higher fuel pressure than a carb. You already have the plumming for the regulator, fuel line in, fuel line to carb (regulated) and fuel return line.
