Title: Any Hackers?
Post by: Blck85TBirdV8 on February 01, 2010, 05:17:52 PM
In december my house was broken into and my ps3, Ibanez bass guitar, camcorder, and my wife's wedding rings were stolen.                So yesterday my wife was checking my facebook page and noticed that someone earned a ps3 trophie under my playstation id.                So whoever has my ps3, they didn't change id's and kept mine.        I called Sony and they said that they couldn't do anything. So I was wondering if anyone here know of a way to hack an ip address and find my ps3,

I got what my new playstation 3 says now. But wouldn't it change when they hooked it up to their internet?

This is what playstation 3 says that my IP address is 192.168.1.100 . I'm using the same exact internet connection that I had with my old one.

The only way to actually find it would be to locate the mac address of the machine while it's logged into the playstation network. without knowing this address of the machine, it would be pretty impossible to locate. if you can find the one on yours right now, you might want to jot it down for future reference

unless he's using your username to log onto the network ... Never used a playstation, so I don't know how it connects to the network. yea, it's pretty much a goner then, sorry.

He is. I made it where whenever you win a trophy it shows up on my facebook page. Either the person doesnt know how to change the user or theyre just too stupid not to.

If he's using your user name, then the police would be able to track him through the playstation network. through Sony.
I would actually talk to the police, and tell them what's happening, and how it's still posting updates to your facebook account. If he's logged in, someone can actually find him through the ip he's using.

just curious, was this theft/robbery reported to the police?
was the PS3 listed in the missing/stolen items?
instead of playing hackers on steriods wih this let the law deal with it instead.
they will get alot more out of this(and the means to get the info your being denied) than what your asking for here.
not trying to be an ass(seriously) just telling you what you SHOULD do in this situation.
a real hacker wouldnt answer this request here, like this.

He more than likely bought the PS3 from the thief.  Get someone you know that has a PSN account and ask the person using your PS3 to call you  by messaging your account.  Make a BS line up like the cops know who you are and if you help me track down my stuff I will not press charges against you.  Or message them to call the Detective handling your case.. wouldnt hurt to try... if hes dumb enough not to wipe out the PS3 before loggin into the network than maybe he'll help..

If the PS3 cost $299 new than I'm guessing he bought a hot one for what? $100-$125ish?

your ps3 might only be 300 but the whole crime is bigger and worth more and also might be part of a pattern. definitely describe this to the police they have computer crime specialist that might run with this giving these details. Though they also have to deal w/ play station but they are the police. Their best hackers around. lol

We know who robbed us, it's just a matter of proving it was them. We're hoping if we track down my ps3, MAYBE we could track down our other items.

Connecting them with your other items is easy, tracking them is the hard part all you have is an IP address right now. I know nothing about computers tell the police. Believe it or not there is a slim chance this guy sold it but the guy knows where he bought it from.
