Title: lincoln mark VII vs supposed 500whp civic
Post by: fordguy545 on August 22, 2009, 01:11:05 AM
These guys are from toledo and I know both of them.  Stark has about 500 bucks in that whole lincoln and the trans slips, lol.  Think its on 100 shot.
Tom on the other hand OBVIOUSLY has no idea how to drive on street tires:rollin:

If that guy in the civic knew how to shift and use the clutch, he probably would have won.

If the guy in the civic was not in a honda, he might have won.

I'd question the "500 hp" at the wheels. You win or you lose..........there are no excuses.

If you listen, he was spinning the tires through 3rd gear. No amount of driving ability with 500 horsepower would keep the tires from blazing. The K-series Honda's are badass. I don't doubt 500 horsepower at all. The head flow is amazing.

If you can afford to make your car 500hp then at least put some better tires on it. Plus the shifting was horrible (I did better my first day driving a 5 speed.)

I am guessing more around 260 HP. The Civic weighs nothing, so it's not very impressive to spin the tires through 3rd gear.

should have done a freeway pull from 45 up to 65 or so. The civic would have creamed him.

300 with traction to the ground > 500 spinning.

/discussion.

He wasn't gettin any where bouncing that thing off the rev-limiter in 1st and 2nd and that was a very slow shift to 3rd, my 12 yr old son can shift better than that  :burnout: :flame:
My wife works with a doctor that has one of the mitsu EVO's that is dyno'd at 540 all-wheel hp. He can't figure why he goes thru so many clutchs.......:mullet:

In my FWD experience, I would always short shift first, but when the tires are blazing, the faster the shift, the more they spin. Bouncing the rev limiter or grabbing the next gear fast wouldn't make much of a difference in his case.

It would make at least some difference if he'd actually shift the stupid thing!
