Title: HO Fuel Injector Woes
Post by: 50tbrd88 on March 23, 2009, 10:28:23 PM
So this weekend I made some progress and had some setbacks as well on tearing down the 5.0 HO.

One problem I had was that when I pulled the injectors I found that on 4 of the 8 the "caps" on the end of the injector are very brittle and are broken.  :punchballs:  I was at the parts store getting some oil earlier today and they said they couldn't get a rebuild kit for them.  Ideally what I would need would be a kit with all new orings and pintle caps for all 8 injectors.

Does anyone know where a guy could find something like this?  I did a few searches and didn't seem to find much...tried ebay with minimal results.  I figure anyone that has done a HO swap has probably run into this problem so thought I'd ask.

For the price of used great condition sets of injectors on eBay, corral, stangnet and the whatnot, I really don't see why you'd want to rebuild an old set.

Case in point.  I sold a set of 19's a while back that only had roughly 5,000 miles on them.  I purchased them brand new a little more than a year before  I sold them.  I got $50 for them and I dare say I was lucky.

The caps are only to prevent damage to the pintle during handling/installation, if you want to be real cheap, use the injs without them...

I thought about that.  I really don't see why they would be necessary other than when you are installing the injectors.
