alot of people put in a new K&N air intake on their cars.
better airflow more power (woo hoo)
how would i go about doing that to the cougar. just remove the airfilter+box and the piping?
thanks for any info.
buy a kit for a mustang. Or just buy the k&n. The cougars/birds and mustangs already have cold air intake. The k&n is just the filter.
Remove the air silencer while you're in there.
ok. so just get a good sized K&n.
this may seem a bit ignorant. but where/what is the air silencer. what exactly will that benefit besides the obvious power increasebut what else will that do? and how would i go about doing that?
lol any one know?
the silencer is on the outside of the airbox under the
right fender. just a big hunk of plastic tube to draw air into
from outside the engine compartment.
lol again sorry for the ignorance. by removing the silencer what exactly will that benefit or change?
can i do this before i get the K&N cone or should i wait till after.
after i get the cone, I can just take out the filter box right? or would it be a good idea to hang on to it for a while?
I hear there is a power increase, but I never felt it. It does make it sound a bit better. It would open up the filter so it can suck in more air.
If you car is a TC, then I would not run a K&N. To much garbage gets threw and eats at the blades in the turbo.
lol it'd ol i fmy car was Turbo charged but sadly no.
just a v8 5.0 LS
Just get a K&N Filter for the 5.0 Thunderbird. It's not a cone,it's a drop in replacement. If you remove the air box, you'll see the bolts that hold the air silencer on.After you remove the air silencer,re-install the air box, drop in the new filter (which is the same size and shape as the stocker),close the box, drive.
