how do you remove those suckers? or is it even possible?
tis an E7TE head.
I'm positive it's possible, because you can buy replacements ;)
lol. yesh i know... but they have caused me great grief! so before i go out there and start breaking stuff, XD i would like to know somebody's (anybody's) method of extracting those pesky things.
1)pull valve cover
2)pull spark plugs
3)get air fitting that threads into spark plug hole, and attach it to air compressor, fill cylinder with air (holds valve closed)
4)use valve spring compressor, and compress valve spring
5)remove locks, and retainer
6) remove valve seal
7)clean valve stem
8)install new seal
9)install valve spring, retainer, and locks
10) give slight tap on valve tip to help seat locks ( soft face hammer)
11)install valve cover & plugs
12)hopefully I didn't forget anything

lol. i'm stuck on step 6. are they just supposed to pull out? i shall try again.
are they plastic or rubber? the rubber valve seals have a spring that holds them on to the guide the plastic are just pressed on (stubborn to pull off sometimes)
heh. ahhhhh . i feels dumb. soooo... what about those valve guides? removeable? *please say yes* today is not my day. -_-
The guide can be bored out but, no the whole guide is part of the casting
Plus you'll need to remove the head and valve to bore it
been porting my heads when i ruined the guides. (two seperate incidents) instead of paying for machine work, i'm gonna hunt down some GT-40(p) heads. Or at least some replacement E7s. shame all that fancy porting has gone to waste. :giggle:
how bad did you damage them? The guides can be re-sleaved, it just depends on how bad they are damaged.
lol. well, i cracked one of them. don't ask. one head needs 4 new ones because that's the first one i worked on. scoured the guides removing the valves. need new valves. so i figures, new boneyard heads would be much cheaper to clean up and i can practice till i'm blue in the face on the old ones. plus even the e7s will bump up the comp a little. but i'm shooting for GT-40Ps.
