Is that made of leather or something artificial?

Thinking artificial.

That's not a bad price, if it fits properly.  I had one recovered for about $50.  At the time, I didn't think to specify leather, so they used something artificial.

Those are made from the same stuff that the dash caps are made of....kind of like a plastic material. On Ebay there's a company in England that makes leather covers for our console lids.I bought my new shifter boot (leather) from them.Super nice.I'll have one of those console lid covers as soon as I get a few other things done.I have the tranny pulled right now so I can install my new clutch.I think I glazed the other one over when I over revved the engine a few weeks ago.

What's the difference between the 87-88 and the earlier lids?

Well, I thought they were the same, but the listing ends at 86, so I am assuming they are different. We only have 87/88 cars, so we don't have any to compare. Maybe someone on here with multiple year birds can clue us in?

There were two different lids: the "taller" and the "shorter". What that site has listed is the cover for the taller lid, latch in the front.

I've used both the Dash Caps and the Dash Tops covers for the dashboard, and both are of very good quality. I'm sure the console lid cover would be just as good.

I remember reading the part with the pot luck lids.
Just wondering if he had the earlier lid on his 87-88

here's the one I have.
did they also have full length consoles in 87-88?

Check this Ebay number out.It has 9 hours left.....

250296753480

It's a leather cover made for the lid.As I stated,I bought the shifter boot from them in leather,VERY nice product.I have a "like new" lid in the garage waiting for installation after paint. The lid I have in the Sport now has the cap that is made from the dashcap plastic material. It has a nice grain texture to it,and fit great. It was pretty cheap as well.I just have mine sitting on the console. It's snug enough it doesn't fall off. It's supposed to be installed with an adhesive.I'll get the leather one eventually.

I purchased one of these lids from this same company.  Mine fit fine, worked fine, and dyed rather nicely.  I ordered it black and dyed on top of that.  Vinnie is correct, it is made of the same stuff as the dash caps.  The only time you can really tell it is a cover is when the lid is open.  I did some dying to the underside prior to attaching the cap, and it is a decent fix.
