I work at Hobby airport, that is Houston. Been moving $hit into the hangers all day. I got food, water and the all important hurricane beer supply. A lot of people are leaving, a lot are staying, I'm staying.

Good luck to you SR71TC and anyone else in the area.

My wife is in San Antonio this week on business so I have been paying more attention to this Hurricane than most. She is scheduled to fly home tomorrow though.

I'm just east of Houston...

My school district where I work released everyone at noon today - and cancelled everything for Friday and next Monday as well (since so many of our staff may live in some of the mandatory evacuation areas, and also since so many student's families might need the time to get back from wherever they're going if they go).

I spent my time after I got home down the street boarding up all the windows at my mom's house. I am beat. Tomorrow I'm gunna do what I can around my own house outside before it starts raining.

We've decided to ride out the storm this time. It seems to keep turning more and more right towards us here though! :shakehead

the problem is flat lands,, tornados will come about with the storm as well.

good luck to you!!

btw,, i dont know why no one does this but a dozen or so bricks of charcoal will be a perfect water filter.  You just have to file them kinda round, stuff one in the bottom end of a rubber hose you have spare of im sure.  take a look and make sure its sealing all the way round.

now flip it around so the charcoal is on the bottom end of the hose.
stuff about a dozen cotten balls down in the tube atop the charcoal.

pour water in the top and allow it to driain / drip into a clean contain which you can drink from.

If you get a chance to wash the charcoal out by soaking in the sink before hand, your first drink of water will not taste odd.

AEP sent most of its repair crews from Columbus to Texas to get power back on.

Nice of them.

On Sunday the remnants of Ike hit Columbus with winds gusting to 75 mph. More than half of the city is without power. Worst power outage in 50 years.

Well, I'm still here. No power, maybe Monday they said. Going back to work tomorrow. Helped mom and dad with there house. Mainly trees and some roofing repair. I have been staying there since they have had power and really good food, thanks mom and dad! The rest of the week will be canned food..hahaha. Screw the PODS, to many assholes that didn't prepare. Tired of hearing people on the news wondering when there FEMA check is coming. Sorry, didn't mean to sound sarcastic, just tired of people thinking our government owes them something. Some people are stopping from one spot to another tring to get as much as possible, selfish people out there.....'steps off soapbox'  Thanks to everyone on here for your thoughts and prayers, gulf coast is going to need it. By the way there is a tigar on the loose on one of the islands......

NASA was flooded by Friday afternoon.  Power out Friday night, looks like 28 Days.  Don't know anyone expecting a FEMA check besides Blackwater.
