Title: Door window trim removal....
Post by: vinnietbird on August 23, 2008, 08:54:35 AM
How does the window trim that goes up and around the door glass come off of the door for replacement?I got two mint doors for the Sport, but, the trim has the chrome strip in it,the Sport's trim is black, and I'd like to swap them out.

isnt the upper trim also the glass w/strip.the door trim
panel and the glass run has to come out.sometimes works
better to take window out first.you will see either small
rivets to drill out or screws. book says mirror has to come
off too, the glass run has a bolt in the front down low.
maybe one in the rear too. youll have to carefully pry it down
at the top.whoops picture shows the lower frt and rr are seperare.
probably wont have to take them off unless the upper isnt flexible.
hope this helps a little.try first with without pulling the window
and see what happens

Well,I just got a new pair of doors, and the chrome strip trim has to go.I'll hit a salvage yard and try to remove the trim from a TC for these doors.I don't want to paint it black.I want the right trim on the doors. Thanks Irv.

I have a few of those trim pieces (dew wipes for the inner and outer) stored away.I've removed those many times, but the upper trim, that's a different story. The belt moulding trim, down the middle of the door is going away.....permanantly.

You just have to pull down on it, there are little clips that connect to the inside that hold it in they take a lot of force, don't forget the 2 screws behind the mirror and behind the black vertical trim piece
