Title: some other cars
Post by: t3skidoo on June 11, 2008, 01:01:27 AM
A dream car garage, some of my friends have good taste (even if they're a little unkempt), a load of Hertz Mustangs, and a Fox Ranchero.

The coolest CV I've ever seen, feathers of a different tail, and big bad boss.

I love the 69 and I actually really like the Fox Ranchero.

The 'technical' name for the Fox Ranchero is the Durango.  Neat, eh?  I think they made less than 100.

I didn't realize that the Durange was a production vehicle.  It looked like a well done one-off.

Nobody interested in the CV?  It's got a manual transmission.

I'm never interested in CV's.

The Durangos were a conversion that was available in '81.  They were all based on I6 cars.  VERY few were made.

There have been several look-alike one-offs done.  All the "real" ones have a fiberglass bed/tub.

Did Ford do the conversion or someone else?  I couldn't tell you what material they used for the tub, but the finish around the top edge seemed too rough to be factory, so I ASSumed it was a one-off.  Besides, isn't "durango" owned by (now) Mercedes Benz?

It was not a Ford conversion

Doing a little digging

Quote
The Ford Durango was built from 1978 through 1983 by National Coach Products of Los Angeles, Calif. As I understand it they produced about 220 units during this period.

I don't think more than a 100 (if that) were even completed.

I almost bought one a few years ago.
