Well,
looks like a sad day for me and my 20th.
I took off earlier today on a day trip to a job site. I have to tell you , i dont really feel all that great about the "quality" of life while on the road.
The company was nice enough to hold to thier end of the deal and eventually they sent me a vehicle.
I should not complain but to tell you all the truth, the nostalgia (sp) of driving my cougar (either one) while doing the work trips is great.
Im cruising along over the mountains and interstates today and i just blend right in with the rest of the shiny metal boxes {
I know i should not complain cause it is pretty much a free ride complete with insurance and gas.
perhaps i best stop here, even the wife thinks im a little silly.
People say "how do you like it" and stuff like that. I am honest and say ,, its a truck. Deep inside, id rather be trolling along in my coug, atleast then it all feels good.
So,, until such time in the future which will call upon her to provide a safe and relable journey (such as catjam), the coug is destin to many days here at home just sitting with the exception of random trips to town.
She hit 200k last week and that seems reasonable and respectable for a 21 year old car looking as good as she does.
I would feel about the same way. I have driven a C6 vett a lincoln MKZ and Fusion and 05 mustang a 05 sport trac 92 F-150 lately and none of them are as fun to drive as my T-Birds.
Well, look at it this way,as fun as the Cat is,and as much as you like it,at least now you're not racking up tons of miles on it,and it can sit while you're working, less wear and tear, and, you can work on it,upgrades, etc. without being in any kind of hurry.Drive the company car like you stole it.
Yeah and get locked up like most of the thieves...
Aw, one of the best songs from one of the greatest albums of the modern rock era...
Synchronicity II from The Police.
Scott, you've just run into the biggest quandry to ever face most owners of these cars. Now at over two decades old, the parts train is drying up so the risk of the car getting harmed is now more dire. Pulling the car from daily driver duty is a difficult decision but probably one of the wisest you can make at this point...especially since you've fixed so many things now. :)
This means that you'll be stuck driving a vehicle that isn't as much fun. It sucks but that is life. Makes your car that much more special when you drive it.
Yeah the parts train is drying up in my area too. The local pull-it yard that was always good for 20-25 cougars and tbirds 3-4 years ago only had 6 cars when I was there in April this year. It's a good time to own a mn-12 car I seen about 15 of them.
really? i didnt think there was
ever a good time to own one of those :shakeass:
I love my '91 5.0L bird....
WAY BETTER handling, ride, room, and gas mileage. Only thing better about my '88 XR-7, is the bottom end torque it has. Out of the hole the XR-7 kills it, till about 30miles/h then the bird quickly starts making up ground and passing by.
LOL, well being a fox owner myself I agree. But I do like the interior on the later model supercoupes and those leather seats are very nice. I picked up a 95 supercoupe before I bought the 88 xr-7 and still haven't brought myself to sell it yet. Cool car the 95 SC but it has to go.. only room for one car in my budget and my garage.
Agreed, just sold my '95 LX...
AND bought a '07 Grand Marquis for the wife...
Hey I have one........and it's a turd:hick:
I'd really like to have one, but in reality with the Lightning, old Cobra Jet Fairlane and my 5.0 TC, it just ain't practical...
Basically we need a car a little "fresher" than the old '93 G Mark, so when the dealer said $15,800(after a bit of haggling, we started at 17,917), I said done... Anyway IF I'd run down A Marauder, I probably wouldn't let the wife drive it and as the old Chinese saying goes... "The Fit Would Have Hit The Chan"...
It's lightly used with 14,600mi... No fireball, but a nice car... Was setting with a row of '08s and excepting for the window tag, was indistinguishable from it's year newer brothers... If they changed anything on the exterior for '08 I didn't see it... Never looked inside this year's models, so maybe there are some differences there(no chance in Hell I was paying $22-$26K for one of those)...
No that's not me in the picture, I out weigh Billy(salesman)by probably 50 lbs... :D
Just stick a KB on the Grand Marquis :hick:
I'm actually kind of glad that my 20th is there as an option for the drive to work on those good weather days when I'm feeling a little randy, but otherwise it sits safely out of harms way in the garage. :D
