I know a guy who parted out a Mark VII and he still has the rear axle and front brakes/spindles lying around. I could'nt find much info on the mark's axles bolt patters etc. Would this stuff fit? Is it an upgrade? Where could I find some wheels for it?
Yes it will fit.
5-on-4.5" (like the 94+ Mustangs)
1" wider overall over your existing rear axle.
Didn't the Mark VII's also have 3.27 gears?
The gears in my Mark axle were 3.08. The disc brakes are a SOB to get working unless you get the e-brake cables all the way up to the pedals. Otherwise you will have no e-brake and will be self-adjusting them from time to time. I'll still recommend it but It's got some downfalls.
If I remember right, don't the driver side axle shafts from Ford ranger trucks and their 10 inch brakes bolt on?5 lugs and bigger drums.
So its an 8.8, did they have trac lok?
Axles shafts don't care whether or not it's a TL or not.
my mark axle didn't have trac lock. Yes it is an 8.8.
AFAIK 84-85 Mark VIIs had 7.5" axles. I've seen some people with 84-85 Marks on LoL finding out they have 7.5 instead of the 8.8"
1986+ are all 8.8"
Bill Blass have 3.08:1 axles
LSCs have 3.27:1 axles
Trak-lok was optional on both.
Sweet its an 89 not sure on the LSC or the trak-lok, but I'm going to find out :D New rims and rubber may be on the way.
Heres My Lincoln Rear It's Not The 8.8 But It Has Track Loc
It was an LSC and it does have Trac-Lok. But he want to use the rear brakes for another project and I really want disc in the back to go with the 11 inchers up front how hard is it to get brackets for the disc brakes? The rest I'll get new from work.
He also is selling some bulletts off of his wife's car. I did a quick photochop, not very good but it looks good.
