Holy shiznit. That's ridiculous.
ABM, I've always respected you for your experience and parts offered for our cars. A lot of people will miss your products!

Ok, I am having a hard time believing this too! Over tbird parts?! Come on, someone has to get a life if they are threatening you! Really sad and a big shame. Sorry to hear but I'd have to agree with you... it's not worth it.

This is not wether you like ABM or not or if you have ever done business with them. This is about being muscled out of business using death threats. I can understand and respect your decission to close. It is just a shame that such people would resort to such tactics. Customers are forced to do business with the bad guys without knowing who the bad guy is. I know for legal reasons you can not say who was applying pressure to you. Now we are left to support someone who uses unethical and illegal tactics to gain an edge on the market. We as supporters are muscled as well.

If it were in my city (Boston) back in the old days - I'd have this issue taken care of for you. Unfortunately, I'm a suburban dad with a family to worry about myself :( I hope you can continue to service the folks here on a small-time basis - it was nice knowing your products were available, even if I was lucky so far and hadn't needed them.

WHY is there "in-fighting in the 2.3/T world?" WHY are these people such bell ends? Does anyone know what the fighting is about? That seems like all of the discussion I read here re: that crowd.
A DEATH THREAT. As my faith in the human race keeps eroding as usual....
"....open and competition-free market...." WHAT? Somebody wants to have like a fsking monopoly over parts or something!? COMMIE PIECES OF TRASH!!!! It's times like this I wish I was Arnold Schwarzenegger in Commando. Just go nuts and find ppl and splatter them all over the wall

I know your always there to help the guys out on here with parts when you can, and your a honest and trustworthy guy. How someone can do this is beyond me, its one thing to threaten someones business, but to threaten someones life, and the lives of there family is just ****ing insane, and ridiculous. I hope the police find the scumbag(s) that did this. Hope everything goes well for you man.

this thread wreaks of :bs: and is dripping with drama.
Quote from: aBM
I will not discuss specifics with anybody, so please do not ask.
if you dont wanna talk about it, then why have two threads? jus state your position, as you did in the vendor section, and leave it at that. then handle your business as you see fit; offline.
while i believe threats upon an individuals life should never be taken lightly, i would not expect any business owner who takes pride in what they do and is fully committed to their business to fold so seemingly quickly. im not here to judge your decisions. however, based on observing your attitude and the manner in which you have handled certain situations including this one, i cannot say i am shocked at the path you have chosen.
i have worked in 6 separate establishments that permanently shut down during my employment and 2 others that changed ownership(yeah, its kinda my curse....). thru those situations i have learned many things. one of the things i learned was that the announcement the owner makes to the public is never the 100% full truth. whether they are attempting to embitter the audience toward a competitor, garner sympathy for themselves, or any other motive, there is ALWAYS more to the situation than is allowed to be known. as they say, "there is no such thing as bad publicity," eh?
i sincerely hope that no harm comes to you or your family. handle your business, and carry on with your life.

Just the kind of responses I would expect from "that crowd". You guys wanted me gone, and now I'm done. I don't know what part of "I don't make a red cent" from this you guys don't understand. Closing up ABM does nothing make give me free time and lose a lot of stress. It does not affect my income, my cars, or anything. I have no "agenda" and certainly no "drama".
I've made one post since this announcement, thanking oldraven for making me smile. Have you ever heard me be so quiet? I made my announcement in the Vendor's section so people who were searching months from now could see, and put up a link in the high-traffic Lounge so people could see and comment. No posts on TurboFord, no posts on NATO, no BS.
To everybody else who's posted, thank you. It was a good run.

I am, but the policy (if it still goes through) goes into effect mid-March. So everybody is having a giant sell-o-thon until then before they bail.

Doesn't that just show support to them? I mean, what will they care if 'everybody' leaves after making huge sales on there? They'll already have their money, and they'll have plenty more sellers to replace those who leave. I think the better way to protest it is to stop selling now, if you don't like the new policy.

Eric just pointed out why you "don't make a red cent". I did some digging, trying to find the source of some of your parts, and found that you had a 40% mark up on some of your parts! I work for a large diesel shop, and our mark-up is 35%. You get yourself into a car scene where being cost effective is everything, yet you mark up your prices significantly, and put some outrageous prices on used parts, to only complain about not getting business.

I guess I'm also part of "that crowd". It also seems that "that crowd" seems to be the people who frequent turboford and NATO and see your antics. I have never seen a business owner make so many claims, and get into so many arguments with those who you need to work with and cater to! For example, I notice that you take a chance to jump all over Bo-Port whenever someone praises his products. As a business owner, you should bite your tongue!
You complain about business, then you go start trouble, never have sources, and quite frankly, never appear to have the knowledge and experience that these largely respected members and vendors have. Who wants to buy a product from someone who gets into g matches, never accepts responsibility for an argument, never admits when they are wrong, and can't keep their car together, when they SPECIALIZE in that specific vehicle.
You reap what you sow, and apparently you planted a shiznit storm.

I dunno. I bought the domain through Yahoo pre-paid before I really knew anything about the 'net (still don't). It's free for me to keep for the remainder but it's a ton of flaming-hoops or something like that to transfer or sell it (guess I don't really own it). It can be a blank screen for all I care.

I didn't get the same buy-in price as huge shops. Most of the "brand name" stuff (like the ARP bolts) it was cheaper for me to buy it from Summit then go direct, even at a Jobber rate. And that's all I ever got, was a Jobber rate. My largest markup was about 30%.
I'm so happy to see "that crowd" never lets anything go, or lets things like "the truth" or "facts" get in the way. I'm done with all this e-arguing, go find somebody else to poke with a stick. What part of "I give up" don't you understand?

Nothing to explain to those who weren't involved. There's 4-5 "deleted" threads about it including the one where I left. All bringing any of that up is going to do is create more of the "drama".
Again, what part of "I give up" don't you guys get? It's over, it's done, leave me to my own peace and privacy. I'm tired of being provoked into e-arguments for other peoples jollies.

It seems Michael, that you came back after saying you were done with the "e-arguing". If you're done, then be done. You claim others are cresting drama, however, as I look at your posts about the whole situation, I see that you seem to like all of the "drama" that you yourself have created by the posts and all of the replies you've made about it. You had to expect that the people who disagree with you about your knowledge and your questionable selling techniques, would reply to this thread. First you put up the thread about your site closing... that's all well and good. You had it locked, that's fine. But then you brought it to the lounge to bring it to everyone's attention, without having it locked. You could have had it locked, since the admins/mods were courteous enough to do that for you when you posted the original thread. Instead, you left this one wide open to comments. Again, you had to expect those who disagree with you about your knowledge and selling tactics, to post. You could have easily prevented the 'drama' you accuse others of having, by simply asking for this thread to be locked after you posted it to point others to your other thread.
Sorry, but to me, it sounds like you thrive on the drama, and were in fact hoping for it, so you could claim 'poor me'.
Just my observations.
