Who's got 'em?  How do you go about installing them?  Show me some pics :hick:

Auto Zone had a nice looking woodgrain one i wanted, it was pretty thick and had a good grip to it. i took my steering wheel cover off and i had forgotten how thin the steering wheel is.

i've thought about this before. my problem is i like my cruse more than i dislike the a-frame wheel that my bird has. i've seen the kit to add the cc back to the after market wheel but i think they look like ass.
to put on an after market steering wheel on you need an adapter kit to make it fit your car. grant gt makes them for our cars. most of the time the grant kit will work for those ebay wheels also.

I have a MOMO and the Saleen adapter kit. It came with cruise buttons, but I never hooked them up.
Sorry, no pics.

I had a Grant GT wheel in mine, with a Grant adapter. Hated it (felt and looked cheap), so I reverted back to a stock TC wheel. Note the relocated cruise buttons.

My '86 had a Grant GT wheel that the previous owner installed. While it looked kind of cool, it stuck out too far because of the adapter and was choppy when taking turns.

What about a Capri steering wheel, for example.  Would that just bolt on?

Should bolt right on.  I'm pretty certain I've even seen some one on here do exactly that.

As long as it's an '83+ wheel.

The mounting post on the column was different on the earlier (78-82) cars.

heres mine:

im not all that impressed with the adapter arrangement for a couple reasons. the adapter is too tall which puts the wheel too close to me/far from the column switches. also the factory TC wheel is offset on the hub, but this adapter is set up on center.

i will be buildin a new adapter in the VERY near future....

what is cruise control? :dunno:

I lost the cruise when I went MAF, but if I ever do go back I have a steering wheel from an 87 Cougar with the cruise buttons. It's a chrome Grant GT with a Lincoln horn button. I wouldn't have done a GT if the horn button wasn't available. ;)

Those are all pretty sharp.  There's a nice Capri 3 spoke with holes in the spokes in the JY nearby.  I'm heading there pretty soon so I'll have to check it out.  I don't remember too much about it, but I do remember it had a Ford center cap.

I have a spare stock Mustang steering wheel (same as T-bird with Ford logo in place of :birdsmily:). That's what I'm gonna do one day :D

The Saleen used the Momo wheel.
My next plan is to adapt one of the removable hubs to the Fox steering shaft....

Some of you guys bust have shorter legs than me or like driving with your knees up in the air. I have to move the seat all the way back to get my legs strtched out and comfy, but then I have to really reach for the steering wheel. I've been planning to get a spacer kit to bring the wheel and inch or so closer.

After seeing Thunder Chicken's Cruise switch relocation I may just have to do something similar.

Mayhem,
I agree. My Saleen/Momo adapter brought the wheel about 3" closer to me, but if I can adapt one of the quick-connects I hope I can move the steering wheel another couple inches back.

I am glad to see I am not the only one with the long leg problem. Grant makes a nice black billet adapter that I wished fit. I put on my Bronco and love it.
