Title: (no 56k) Not too bad for degreaser and Armor-all...
Post by: ZondaC12 on January 13, 2008, 02:14:57 PM
I'm still diggin gotta find a pic that shows it right after I did the H.O. conversion so you can see the muck :hick:

NOTE the A/C compressor. One would have thought...a few days ago...that it was painted black. :hick: Yyyyyyyah. Kinda the same with the P/S pump. Very covered in gunk. Two CHEAP bottles of Advance Auto degreaser, one garden hose with a spray nozzle (sorry no pressure washer as someone mentioned in thunderjet's thread I'd like to keep the engine IN the car :hick: :giggle:), and some Armor-All afterwards, I was surprised.

And while I'm at it, I'll plug the white stuff some more....here's the Buick's engine bay, I sprayed down the firewall and did the valvecover and was amazed at the difference with the cover mainly. This was like 4 months ago, shows how little the car's been used in that time LOL.

And before I forget YES I know I'm missing the fan shroud was inspecting something never put it back on yes I'm LAZY as hell :hick:  And yeah no super-reflective shiny upper intake, just an HO upper that looks worse than my original upper. But I like it, it LOOKS like a 121,000 mile upper intake, goes well with the rest of it. Someone who knows about Ford 5.0s would not guess this car has an extra 75 ponies looking at it. Sss...sss.sslll....sll...eeper?  ;)  *ducks fists*

Cleaned up nicely.  I use one of those wheel brushes from autozone and scrub everything I can get too.  You can still see the dirt on your inner fenders, its just shiny dirt now. lol  I absolutely love powerwashers for engine cleaning.

TRUE. :hick:  Yeah sometime I'll ACTUALLY clean it, thought I'd just see if it really loosened up that much. I was reallly getting sick of the compressor and accessory bracketry. That was miserable. Mainly because I need a new radiator. Oh no, it doesnt leak or anything. Nope, many of the fins are corroded and either green or....RED (WTF?) and it flakes off and the fan salad-shoots it all over everything, namely the bracketry. Bleh.

Looks good. Just clean up the dirt on the shock towers/radiator support and paint some rusty parts black and it'll look great :D .

Oh and put the fan shroud on. The car will run cooler in the summer ;)
