Gonna take a lot more than a blacked out grille and TC hood to get 900 horses outta that 3.8. If you ever do, though, that tow truck will come in  handy...

Nice 4-eye tho...

You really should let the paint dry before taking pictures.  The rest of us might get jealous.

Well I mean you see all kinds of videos of Buick Grand Nationals friggin wheelstanding like it's a walk in the park all over YouTube and stuff, same size engine, and granted it will need tons of beefing up since these obviously won't hold up as well as those buick 3.8s but I guess if they're doing it....so could one of us!!!

Probably a case of "if you throw enough $$ at it" I'm guessing. Of course that has a prerequisite of you having the money TO throw at it. :hick:

I doubt if even an old Nascar V-6 block would take that power for more than a couple minutes.
Go read what Ken Duttweiler has done. Big power, but big $$$. No stock blocks...

Good luck, and keep the towtruck on speed-dial.

look at this v6 mustang it has a 5.1 v6
http://www.v6power.net/vb/showthread.php?t=34087
http://www.v6power.net/vb/showthread.php?t=34480
4.5L displacement, Nascar engine, siamese bores, capable of around 5.1L (?) displacement with bore and stroke. Used mainly now in circle track racing. Uses a special head which can be fitted for extra head bolts for better clamping. 450-550hp n/a, 1200-1300 with a power adder. see it is possible pretty easy too just alot of money some what.

The 4.5 Nascar engine was only loosely based on the 3.8 and shares very little with it. The heads aren't even interchangeable. It is extremely rare and very hard to find information on, let alone find parts for one. I vaguely remember reading in an old FMS catalogue that the bore centers weren't even the same. It's a very elusive engine to find info on, though. One thing is certain: It is not an Esshag engine, and just because this engine can make and handle gobs of power doesn't mean an Esshag will. This engine was purpose built for racing, from the ground up, and has never been used in a production car.

Some of the small amount of info I was able to find, from the V6power messageboard:
Quote
The 4.5L was a direct nascar engine, nothing on the engine is interchangeble with the 3.8/4.2. They have the same bolt pattern on the oil pan and same timing chain cover. They are pure race engines and were rated at 550 hp na. SO if you want a 4.5 v6 they costed 45k to build 10 years ago

the only thing that the 3.8/4.2L share in common with the 4.5L is they both have the same Deck height. but other then that nothing else. you can't use the same head, cam, crank, etc, etc. everything else is different in the engine.

Take a look at this pic of one:

Note the extra head bolts, but more importantly, note that the block has been cast to accept them.
