Pretty excited about getting our electrician back in to finish up the lighting so got some poor night pictures (going to try again with the tripod) of the house with all the lights turned on in the dark. We spared no expense on the lighting and got what we wanted as opposed to just what was required. Lighting isn’t something that is that simple to go back and add light’s unless you don’t mind ripping out drywall. So unlike most contractor built houses where they put the required one light per entry I put two, one on each side of each garage door, one on each side of each sliding door, one on each side of the front door, and one on each end of the front of the house. Plus 4 flood’s up in the gable. The front of this place just GLOWS
Inside we have recessed lights everywhere in the main living room, loft, kitchen and master bedroom. All on dimmers thank god or I would have to issue sunglasses to visitors at the door. The kitchen also has under the counter Halogen. Anybody remodeling a kitchen I highly recommend those. It put’s the light right where your working instead of behind you where your body is shading it.
All our windows are done with 1x6 pine. Stained and varnished and wrapping around the bull nosed corners that we did throughout the house. Leanne likes flowers in the windows and in a standard window sill your always fighting to keep from knocking them off when you open the window. These sills won’t have that problem. OR she will just figure she can put larger pot’s there and still have the problem just with a heavier potted plant.
Last but far from least. I have lights in the Man Cave! car Garage with shop area in the back and storage under the stairs. Like the rest of the place it's a mess but keep in mind this is still a construction site. We have Counters, Flooring, Plumbing, and trim yet to do. Plus a rebuild of my concrete front porch steps that have sunk 2.5 inches from the ground settling since the rain has set in. We expect it to be ready to move in mid January.

Nice house. I build for a living, and that is one of the nicer ones I've seen in a while. I especially like the open feel. Can't wait to see more pics. I'll post some of my victorian rebuild pics In another post some day.

Wow Daminic, thanks for that. I'm very critical of my own work and nit pick my self to death. I know every spot in the house where the knock down texture isn’t PEFECTLY even, or the roofing is a BIT out of align or the sheetrock isn’t PERFECTLY squared up.. and have a tendency to drive my self wacko worrying about it. My wife says “it’s perfect just like that don’t you DARE se that texture off again and do that area over” as I stand there with a trowel in hand grumbling. I got to BS’ing and forgot to knock one of the spare bedrooms down on time and was going to se the whole room down because it wasn’t the same texture as the rest of the house (I’m not a builder!) to have those words come from a builder makes me feel good about it. I appreciate that!
It's wired to a switch for a single thread of outside lights, but at this time were just boxing that off until after we move in and actually get some landscaping in.
I failed to mention up in the soffit is also two switched plugs for Christmas lights. (that won’t be going up this year)

Just remember, most people don't see the work that you do the same way. which will make your house nicer than most. I can tell by first sight of a room if it was just done to the good enough level or above.
Something will usually catch my eye in most houses, that could have been better.
I usually do custom higher end quality work in the better neighborhoods. and from those few pics it looks high end.
I'm not really a fan of bull-nose window openings, but it really flows well with the whole open feel.

We dident do foundation or framing or elect. I sub contracted that out. Even though my nephew does fraiming and gave me a great deal. Then my brother in law is a plumber and he did the plumbing for his cost in materials with no labor charged.
I roofed, insulated, drywalled, mud and tape texture paint, installed doors, windows, deck, Cabinets and soon to come flooring and plumbing fixtures myself. On the sideing I had to hire a few guys to help me $800.
By "WE" I'm refering to my father, my wife, and myself. My father being retired get's credit for the majorty. He was at it almost every day this summer for 8-10 hours a day. I would be nowhere near as far as I am without him.
Here's a pick of the old fart as I decide if I'm going to keep him on, or fire him and find somebody else that will work 10 hours a day for me for free.

I'll bet you didn't think there was so much that went into building something. esp. on that scale. That ceiling is really, way up there.
I also, put switched outlets up for my christmas lights. lol

Oooo.. don't even mention the ceiling... had some friends help me out putting the rock up there, 22ft in the air and the lift would only go 15ft... only to have the inspector come in and say "thats the wrong rock, it all has to come down!"

I put 1/2 inch up on 24inch center rafters and you have to use 5/8 on 24's... 5/8 is weigh's a ton more than 1/2 when your lifting it 22 feet in the air. That whole ordeal was VERY discouraging.
Since this last report my Brother in law has been in and finished most of the plumbing. (missing one shower head) So we now have hot and cold running water. I have a little bit of fixing on my front steps (that were concrete until they sank 3inches) that I had to redo out of wood. And then I'm ready to take my first shot at my Final inspection for my
Occupancy. Planning on calling for the inspection this coming Friday.

Where's those pic's of what you have done Jerry, I'm intristed in seeing them, since I took this on I'm always looking for ideas. lol I find myself at peoples houses checking out there texture when I SHOULD be visiting with them.
