Remember when you could tell who made a car by just looking at it? Now I have to look for a badge..........

i dont think toyota has anything to be proud of for stealing the ford edges design, its quite ugly and generic looking and will fit right in with the rest of the ugly, generic looking cars coming out from everyone:shakeass:

When you start out with a puppiesanese platform and design bodywork to look import it's going to end up looking like another import. I thought they looked a lot like a Toyota Celica when they came out.

I think it's sad that American car companies don't want to build American cars anymore.

But the Cougar was European, wasn't it?

Yes.  I wonder what, if any differences there are in the Euro versions.  Same motors....I'm guessing we got spongy suspension parts yet again.

No, the Capri was Euro. The Cougar was always American (except for the last puppies version).

It's that last 'puppies' version I'm talking about. I thought that was a Euro car, since it resembles the Puma and Ka so much. Wiki time.

Assembled in Flat Rock, Michigan, and related to the Mondeo, Mystique, and Contour. Yeah, it's European. No relation to puppiesanese cars.

The 99-04 were based on mondeos as were the contours and mystiques so yes the 99-04's were Euro. The point of confusion is whether we (the 99 - 04's) received a Ford engine or whether the 2.5 in the 99 - 04's were Mazda. I have been told both ways on the New edge cougar forums i used to go to (That was before i was told by most people on the forums that my car would look great dropped and kitted).
